Hi, I'm new to the civic scene after buying myself a cheap 1.4 EK. It's a fun little car but after 6 months of owning it and doing the usual mods like wheels, ride height etc I now need more power!
I don't want to start another "which engine" thread as I know newbie's get moaned at enough. I've done some research on what fits what and which parts off my D14 I can use.
So, basically I want to fit a D16Y8 from a pre face in my facelift EK. I know I need to wire in VTEC as my car doesn't have it as standard. Its the engine harness that is the most confusing, can I use my D14 loom on the Y8 or will i need the Y8 loom and the dash loom from a facelift car? Is this going to be more hassle than it's worth? I've got the Y8 for cheap so no comments on going down the B series route please. Any help with this would be great. :nice:

I've got a d16a single cam vtec engine in my car out a delsol obd2 car. Swap was easy enough just used a obd2b loom out of an ek4/ek9 and it will fit onto the obd2 engine. Try get a d16 out of a facelift civic and just get the loom from an ek4. Only trouble is you will need an ecu to run it or get a jdm ecu and jumper harness. Latter is what I done.

Thanks for the replies. My seller with the d16y8 has let me down so I'm back on the hunt for one similar. I think I'll use my loom from the 1.4 obd2b engine already in the car and mate it up to the engine changing a few plugs (dizzy, injectors etc). Then just the vtec wiring headache :) sorry if I'm getting this wrong but feel free to point me in the right direction.

We ran the 1.4 with better inlet, exhaust and fuel pump and ran good got about 130bhp out of it ;) great fun

I'm tempted to go down the same route. Z6 or Y8 inlet, higher flow exhaust manifold, decat etc. It should get me by until I can afford the K swap! (I wish!!)
What fuel pump did you use just out of interest?
