Hi,

I can see droplets of oil under my sump. I tried to trace the oil and it seems to be coming from the sump nut. I have a blue colored sump nut which i highly doubt is an original part?

My question is, does the sump nut come with a washer? If so, could it be a faulty washer?

Thanks.

A new sump washer may cure your leak

You could try giving the sump nut a nip to see if it stops but be sure to not over tighten and damage the threads

The blue sump plug is more than likely a magnetic aftermarket one

Thanks for the reply.

Any idea where I can get a washer from? Hopefully the Honda dealership isn't the only option...

And since I shall be removing the sump nut I might as well carry out an oil service. This is the first time i shall be servicing a Type R, is there anything I should be aware of? I know which engine oil grade to use. Is there anything special about the oil filter?

Cheers

It's not any different from other cars in terms of oil change. Last time I ordered Hamp filter it came with a new crush washer iirc

@BlueGhost

I have sump washers in stock. But your right, you might as well complete an oil change to.

I recommend 5w 40 oil for your engine along with a hamp or OEM Honda filter.

I do an oil and filter fit together (motul oil 5 litres, hamp oil filter and sump washer) for £34.99 plus postage.

Thanks
Derek

Only special thing about the oil filter is that it's a pain in the arse to get at. The dealer often just gives me the crush washer, but they're about $2 (NZ price) otherwise. Expensive but fine if you value your time...

Turns out the oil leak might be the crank seal located next to the gearbox as this is where the trail of oil seems to be coming from. Will be looking to replace this soon.

Worth tightening up all nuts on sump and clean off any oil that's there.
