Hi guys/girls. Just been looking at some new engine mounts for the up comming b18 conversion I'll be doing. Are there any benefits from buying brand new mounts from companies like innovative mounts over buying mount inserts for oem mounts? Looking at these two items in particular.

If I do decide to go for the inserts, they'll be going into oem ek4 mounts. In regards to mounts, that IS all I'll need for a b18 conversion

Thanks!

Just get oem new mounts and fill with tiger seal. Leave for a week to set and fit. Will save you a fortune, unless you want those scene kid mounts.

Oh yeah I completely forgot about this idea!! Nice one, will be doing this instead!

Don't bother with new mounts any old mounts will do even cracked rubber. Tiger seal will hold it all together just fine!

Sounds like a right bodge. cnc mounts are expensive. If funds dont allow then use inserts with std mounts. Please don't fill them with sealant!
Put it this way, it would be enough to put me off buying a car if this had been done

Lots of people fill their mounts with tigerseal, a lot of members on here do it. Because it works :)

My brother has a 2zz engine in his Mr2 spyder with a rotrex @ 320 bhp. No complaints with his tiger sealed mounts

That's fine, I'm not selling anyway lol. What do you think solid aftermarket mounts are made of? The only difference is they look pretty and make a nice dent in your wallet, performance and durability wise they are the same. Filling mounts with tigerseal (which is polyurethane btw) is FAR better than any insert - it can't fall out etc... The only downside is that you can't really go back once you've filled them.

Cheers for the info guys. I was going to opt for Hardrace mounts but I'll tigerseal at some point instead. How much are new OEM mounts?

Tbh I would only tigerseal the torque mounts. Replace the engine mounts with oem or hardrace. Wouldn't go filling the engine mounts as it's a stress point and not confident if tigerseal would work as well as new.

I've filled torque mounts with a windscreen sealant before now. Worked a treat!
Sounds like a bodge but I suppose it's more DIY as its the same thing just made at home...
If my mounts where not upto the job I wouldn't think twice about filling them with sealant. Instant track mounts.

Using inserts or filling with PU/Tigerseal both work the same and work really well. No need for fresh stock mounts if you plan to go this route.

If you need some *bling* in your life, then by all means consider CNC billet mounts. Hasport are your best bet. They work no better than the previous suggestion though, but can look the business. (comparing the 62A ones)

If you wish to keep NVH to a minimum, I'd recommend filling/inserting just the torque mounts as a first step. Easy to do even by yourself. If that isn't enough, additionally fill the rear mount as a second step.

All of that should be plenty for a predominantly street car.

Let us know how things go...

;-)
