I have a set of ek4 calipers, which I have stripped down 'almost' completely to have shot blasted and powder coated....now for the tricky bit!

Front calipers are easy and completely stripped, as for the rears, everything is stripped apart from in the hand brake section, there is a needle bearing, which I assume will have to be removed prior to powder coating? As they are obviously baked at a high temperature....

My question is, does this bearing need to be removed? If yes, what's the best way? As I can't seem to find a replacement if I damage it, final resort would be to epoxy paint them and leave the bearing in there to prevent them being baked...

Thoughts / comments / suggestions please!

I'm super late to this thread of course, but when referring to little things like this it's always helpful to have some pictures of exactly what you're talking about. Help us help you.

If its in a blind hole your probably gonna need a bearing puller. You can use a slide hammer to if u can make up something up to grip the bottom of the bearing. Two wee L arms bolted together or something similar.

As its a relatively small bearing even with these tools it is highly likely you will damage the bearing case. I would start looking for a replacement bearing or just buy some good brake caliper paint.
