Rob's EK9 Progress

Thanks guys for all the positive comments so far :)
Apologies for this update being so late these updates are fom July onwards.
I decided I wasn't happy with the boot install, mostly because of the risen floor was taking up a fair bit of space.
So I took it all apart, which was no easy task as I had put in soo many screws and glued everything. I made a new smaller box for the sub so it would sit flush with the false floor. Also picked up a grill to keep it safe for when I use the boot for its intended use :p

Didn't re cover it just yet but doesn't really matter as the boot liner covers it up.
As some of you might know, I managed to squeeze into the Waxstock Top 16. So the prep began!
So started with bay and gave it a spruce with some apc. Also relocated the nasty looking plug that lives on the back of the dizzy cap. Just helps it look a little neater.

The interior was pretty good just the mats where a little grubby so pulled them out and spritzed on some apc, gave them a scrub and then rinsed with the jet wash.

Over the next couple of days I cracked on with the wheel arches, cleaned up the the front liner with some Getechniq C4. Touched up the callipers and protected with Carbon Collectives Platinum Wheels. Had the bumper off to touch in the stone chips and de bug the metalwork.

After all that I gave the paint work a spruce up and corrected the roof as I'd not machined the roof at all so far.

Then the last couple days before the weekend of Waxstock I painstakingly cleaned up the mesh grill of what looked like overspray. Then topped it off with some C4.

And finally made it to Waxstock for a good weekend of cars and a few drinks with friends.

Well the rear trailing arm bushes where goosed so had to be swapped out. Probably shouldn't of attempted this at home but I am a bit tight when I know I should be able to sort a job myself.
So got the car jacked up nice and high.

Made a start at undoing all the bolts to drop the arm to gain access to the bushe. As these are pressed in, it was no easy task. In the end I had to cut the old ones out.

Think I'll have to give the arms a lick of paint at some point too.
So after a lot of patients and smashing with the copper hammer the new bushes where in!

Also fitted new rear drop links as these where knocking their tits off and quite iiratating.

So not massively exciting but sorted a couple of jobs at needed doing.
Not sure what's next as this will be the 1st winter the ek9 won't be on the road for but thanks for sticking with it.

Not a huge job this time but again was one that needed doing. The Clutch Master Cylinder had worn out and I knew it was getting worse as the fluid had been escaping past the seals and the feel of the pedal was super light.
Buy Honda buy once I say! So ordered up the fresh parts.

So I started by getting the seat out as access was going to be a bit tight. Pushed out as much fluid as possible to minimise spillages in the engine bay. Then got on and removed the cylinder.

The brake fluid had eaten away the paint, as expected. But I didn't expect it to be this bad. Taken these after I had wire bushed all the nakkered paint off.

Was quite bad so cleaned it up and got some hammerite on there.

Whilst the paint dried I put the cylinder back together with the fresh parts and cleaned it up.

And a last couple of pictures. Just because.

Thanks all :)

No updates on the EK9 unfortunately but that's because I picked up a winter beater.
As with all of us I couldn't keep my hands off of it for 5 minutes! :p but it did have some small issues that needed fixing.
This is how it was when I picked it up. Just a simple totally standard EJ9 Civic in Super Sonic Blue.

First simple issue was the blowy exhaust. So had to pop to my mates and let him weld it up.

While putting the exhaust back on we spotted a leak on the rear wheel.

The break pipe had popped and luckily this must of happened just as I got to where I needed to be. So had to get the copper pipe out and replace before I could go home.

Made it home safe and started with a cleaning job. So I got on and sorted the interior as this is where I'd be spending most of the time. No before unfortunately.

The front brake pads hadn't been changed in a while so sorted those.

Also had a split CV boot which couldn't be left.

As with all old civics it was letting water in. Luckily had a spare set of rear light gaskets but the lower vents where also past it. So it all came off to be cleaned and sealed.

Plenty of silicone applied.

Drove it about for a bit but I couldn't get on with the magic disco ball of chrome plastered across the front.
So started with the grill surround.

And wrapped it.

The head lights had started the yellow and peel and generally looked nasty.

Out came the wet and dry paper and then finally polished up with the DA.

The chrome inserts on the headlamps was next as they are just too bright for my liking.

Well worth the effort and made the civic look a lot less oap shuttle.

Engine bay was grubby so took the battery out spritzed with apc, agitated with a brush and just jet washed. Came out better than I expected.

As expected the paint was in terrible condition with a few patches that look like its been attacked with a scourer but I will be fixing those later. For now I have only managed to polish the front end but still came up a treat after a two stage correction.
Claybar showing how filth it was!

Also bunged on some fresh number plates to help lift the look.

Thanks all for reading. Hopefully have some EK9 updates soon ;)

Ek9 is lovely and clean. Nice to do it all urself! Id love to attempt half of that! Daily is lookin very nice too. Lots of subtle meaningful mods totally transformed it!

Stunning 9.. Personally I couldn't be bothered touching the daily, but as long as your happy :)

Thanks guys.

@pdapaul That is it for the daily. Wasn't going to touch it but just wanted to make it a little nicer. Only cost me the price of the new plates as I had the rest kicking about already. ;)

Some pretty awesome updates for the nine coming once it's had a fresh cambelt etc.

Small update.

Decided to change brand of engine oil and changed the gearbox oil.

The other week end I got on with sorting the steamy headlight. Was starting to look bad!

Off came the front bumper to begin with and had to give it a wipe down while it was off.

So got on with separating both headlights to repair the reflective bowl as it had burnt away slightly.

Sorted it with some foil tape.

Had to leave the car like this over night.

Next was to wet sand and polish the headlights as they where starting to look a little tired and was yellowing along the top edge. Worked my way from 600 to 1200 grit and then polished with the trusty DA.

Came up much better than I expected! Glad I didn't pussy out and buy new now.

More to come in the next few weeks. Thanks as always :)

Nice choice of oil, headlights have come out really well also, nice job!

Doesn't really feel any different to be honest. It was still working the clutch fine just leaking a little. The pedal feel is lighter than the EJ9

This build is everything i need for my ek9 once i get it running first lol can i ask where you get your materials and parts the car is awesome
