I have a problem with traction when on high boost, I know I'm never going to get it to grip in 1st and 2nd without boost by gear/ traction control but having a usable 3rd would be nice especially on track.

It's an ek9 with standard lsd, im running 16x 215 toyo t1rs which are by the looks of things a few years old. I can get hold of Avon zzr trackday tyres in 16x225 off of a mate who works for Avon.

Do any of you high power turbo lads have any experience with a trackday tyre? I know it will be an improvement but by how much? Is traction in 3rd achievable with a trackday tyre and 350 lb/ft? Thanks

350ftlbs? How much hp you making?
Mine is only low hp (280) for this very reason.
I had full traction in 1st gear if you rolled onto boost(obviously not on a launch)
Any semi slick is going to be better than what you have ATM. Might be worth looking into a plate LSD aswell.
Tbh boost by gear is probably the best idea, can't see the chassis handling that much torque while turning at the same time.
What's corner exit like coming out of hairpins?

It's 460bhp@fly, I did few trackdays in the civic last year but I could only use w/g pressure which is around 300bhp@fly.

I tried high boost for a couple of laps but it was just rediculous and basically Un manageable, even with a light foot it would just loose traction .

It just seems like a waste having the power on high boost but not being able to use it, it's a much nicer car on w/g pressure.

It would be nice to think I could tame it a bit with decent tyres, at least have a 3rd gear that can be used with feathering the throttle. Is a plate lsd a big improvement over standard?

Yeah plate LSD are the boss IMO.
I run mine on WG(0.4bar) and like I said I've got full grip.

You could ask your tuner to map the power to come in alittle smoother?
Either way your not putting 460hp down and turning at the same time lol

So your list should be
Tyres
Plate LSD
Progressive map(if possible)

Or just go boost by gear.

If your running dead rubber on track with a standard diff, it will be like a new car with a plate & proper tyres, better tyres than ZZR out there too, they may be cheap..

T1R are not good tyres. R1R are not bad mind.
R888 are good, but fast wearing.

You'll defo want a semi slick with that sort if grunt.
Well a slick would be best if you can run them?

Might want to look into suspension setup aswell. You need the whole tyre to be contacting the ground with that sort of power/torque. I would be going with yokohama ao48s over toyo 888. More expensive, but they work a lot better than the 888s
Boost by gear is a very good option, or traction control. Maybe both!

Thanks for the input guys. My plan is to re-bush the suspension and get a full set of adjustable camber/toe arms over the winter and then get it set up properly, hopefully with some fresh semi slicks it should be much better.

The plate diffs sound interesting but will have to wait a bit to get the funds up together, can you fit a longer final drive? would that help?

What gearbox do you have?
Could just swap straight to an s9b gearbox if your planning on using as much of your 460hp on track as possible.
Unless you already have one and want a longer box again?

It's abit longer yeah. It may help with traction in the higher gears but I think the chassis is your main priority tbh.
