Been having a lot of issue's with my mum's Punto recently, was wondering if anyone could help. Its a 2007, 1.4 petrol model. 25k miles, so not a high miler at all.

It threw up an engine light, got it read and two codes came up, PO115 and another one regarding emissions (cant really remember what one it was).

PO115 is the "cooling circuit" code, so could be anything within that circuit. Checked that the thermostat was working (which it was), so I replaced the coolant sensor.

For the emissions code, I pulled out the first lambda (in the exhaust manifold, pre-cat) and the probe was white, indicating it was running hot, which could've been because of a faulty coolant sensor. Cleaned this in vinegar, fired it back in.

Then I reset the codes, and it was fine for 20 mins, then it threw up a code indicating the 2nd lambda (post-cat) was malfunctioning, had a look at this and it was toast. The thing was rusted to hell and just generally destroyed. Replaced that, all good for about 3 weeks.

Today, PO115 came back on again. Now I'm stuck and don't know what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a way I can test the coolant sensor to make sure that's not dead? The code's so vague, it's not really pointing me anywhere.

Any help would be appreciated!
