R1PPU's EJ9 Build Up

At this point I was working through in Glasgow for an Internship, which involved driving to the other side of Edinburgh and catching a train everyday, made me smile seeing my car every day after a 11 hour day as sad as it sounds haha.

Random pic of mines and Steve's cars one day at the Meadows.

Ally came through to Edinburgh to get some parts, decided to wash the cars

Then one day I got tired of how disgusting the inside of the wheels were, its the really crappy thing about having white wheels, you can see everything haha. So took them off to give them a proper clean.

Sample of what I had to deal with

Started cleaning

Gave them a clean with Bilberry, polished with SRP and then sealed with the Poorboys stuff again.

Gotta love a bit of wheel bead

Obligatory snapchat (ignore the typo, it was getting dark haha)

Got the car MOT'd, it passed with n0 advisories :)

Last day of working through in Glasgow

Decided to go all scene and put a few stickers on the back of my seat

Car got snapped up at Knockhill for the MU track day, always think its cool when people share pics of my car haha

Got an aftermarket manifold for a steal and fitted it.

It was mega crap so sold it and put the standard stuff back on. At this point, Steve, Graham and myself also fitted an EK9 subframe, rack and ARB to the car, made a huge difference. No pics unfortunately (or fortunately haha) because we were rushing to get that done and fit coilovers to Steve's little brothers car.

Got the tracking done at CLCM, the new guys did a great job. Had to take the bumper off to get onto the ramp though, and it still only just made it haha

Since then just cleaned the car and enjoyed it really. Back to uni for 4th year so thats keeping me crazy busy, as well as being back at Screwfix because they were good enough to keep my job for me whilst I was through in Glasgow.

Thanks for reading and well done if you've made it this far haha! C+C welcome as always

Some more good progress man. Little things make a big difference :). Still need a meet set up :).

Question,

How do you find the rack off an ek9 ?
I already have the ARB but was always contemplating getting the rack too, but is it worth it.

Cheers man :) Yeah will sort something out tomorrow night!

The rack is awesome. IMO its more of a worthy investment than the ARB and subframe. On road use, I haven't noticed any difference with the subframe, ARB difference is minimal. Would deffo recommend the rack.

haha shoutout from big famous frewar.

car looks badass man. those wideangle shots on the drive are sick.

Haha yeah that amount of followers I got after he posted that was pretty funny.

Cheers man! :nice: Came pretty close to breaking it last month because my insurance has gone down quite a bit but couldn't do it, so I'll have it for at least another year haha.

Lovely car, some difference :))

Thanks dude!

Cheers man! Yeah I was surprised at how good they looked on the car.

On another note, I'm a bloody mastermind.

love it must get my grams fixed if possible there such a cool set of wheels ur doin tidy work to the car man fair play

Much respect for this thing. Practically built from the ground up by @rippu and his friends. True dedication on a strict budget yet done right. Fair play man.

Thanks bud! Yeah they're awesome wheels, really under-rated! Really light too. Thanks again man :)

love it on those wheels. this car actually makes me like silver

Thanks Nicole! Haha I'm bored of the silver because there are so many silver EJ9's about when it's done right I think it can look cool! But in general, silver cars suck :p

Thanks man, appreciate it! :) Yeah I owe a lot to all my mates who have helped me with the car (and Steve's mum for letting me fit coilovers to the car outside her house on her birthday...), couldn't have done it without them! Haha don't think many people realise how much of a budget build it is, but I'd rather have to wait and save up for the good stuff :) Thanks man :nice:

Think that's maybe why people don't know how strict it is man. Because you haven't done the common thing and lavished it with cheap replica parts....(minus the splitter:lol:) yet saved up for the good stuff. Wish your wheels were 5x114 though :angry2:

Car is looking good man, has come such a long way since you bought it. I've spent far too long lying under it working on it though :p

Haha true, if you're gonna do it, do it properly :p Haha which one?! Yeah They'd look cool on the 9!

Cheers man! Haha, I'm sure after this winter we'll be even after the work on the coupe's done! :p
