Jesse888 Forged/stroker turbo ek9

Abit too late now with the gasket. I have a headstud kit I'll be using so hopefully that will help.
Will keep an eye on it, if it doesn't seal I'll use an oem one, thanks for the heads up though. Could save me some hassle trying to diagnose issues further down the line.
Fingers crossed they've fixed there issues and make decent gaskets now lol

Romain did mention a ram horn style manifold would help bring it further down. Really don't want to be faffing around with exhaust manifold cracks etc that seems to be quite common on those types of manifold. I was very happy with how the car performed before the engine went so I'm sure I'll be happy this time regardless.

If you get a good quality ramhorn manifold it shouldn't be prone to cracking. The thing people some times over look is that unless you have a flexi pipe/joint on your downpipe a lot of stress is been exerted on the manifold every time the engine moves! So make sure a flexi pipe/joint is incorporated into your downpipe.

At 300hp+ you could pick up +15bhp at the same boost level by switching from your current manifold to a good quality ramhorn, we seen almost 30bhp on a 380bhp turbo b18 when switching from a log style mani to a ramhorn. I have a Go-Autworks ramhorn and GT3076R turbo fitted to a stock b18c4 with type r cams, it has a nice wall of torque from 5300-8600rpm, vtec point occurs at 4000rpm, during spool which does indeed reduce the time it takes for the turbo to reach full boost. If I had of used a smaller A/R exhaust housing I could have reduced the spool time further but for this application we were after topend power.

Will bear this in mind.
Although im not really chasing figures and reliability is most important factor.
Obviously this means I could run LESS boost to make the SAME power as I want which can only be good for that. Also heard that cast manifolds tend to hold heat in really bad and then transfer this onto the cylinder head?
Will see how it goes and if budget allows look into the ram horn from go-autoworks, hopefully the downpipe I've got would work with that manifold so I don't have to buy another downpipe.

Running any support bracing on the manifold set up vtec600?
Im also running a go autoworks ramhorn and gt3076R, I had a brace fabricated to help support the turbo weight for peace of mind

Any issues with the manifold so far? Iirc you had one crack didn't you?

Zero problems with mine. That was my friend killa vtec that cracked around the wastegate flange. Hopefully mine stays intact lol

Still a go autoworks ram horn mani yeah? Warrantee would be an issue with them being in America aswell, plus at £500 it's pretty steep for me ATM.
Perhaps another time if I get bored lol

Yep go autoworks. I think the main issue with manifold cracking is to do with vibration combined with the weight. However I haven't heard of them cracking when used with a support bracket/brace.

Defo sounds like a project for another time. I just want my track car back ATM lol

No, no support brace. Out of interest what size wastegate are you using? And what boost pressure?

Using a tial 44mm mvr with 6 psi spring. 1 bar boost pressure and low boost .5 bar

Ok so had a spending spree earlier this month. Didn't have time or wi-fi to upload pictures.
One of the issues with building your own block is that you NEED good quality tools, buying this kind of precision just to use them rarely is a kick in the teeth but needs must, I'd only be putting this money in someone else's hands anyway. So learn a skill, build a block and have some tools for the money instead of just having a built block. Perhaps if I'm good enough and feel confident, I can build others blocks in the future?
Started off buying these two micrometers from rich777, cheers bud.

Then came the really expensive bit.
Forged parts from America.
Here's a summary shot of what I ordered.

Plenty of names in that picture, wanted good quality parts with a name I could trust.

Wiseco pistons - 9.96-1 compression 81.5mm

Nice and shiney! Shame they'll be hidden really lol came with rings and guide on ring gap etc
Manley rods, after a discussion on rybeans build thread about these I decided I was going with them over eagles.

All weight matched to within a gram(half a gram actually) with arp2000 bolts as standard. Good feel to them aswell.
ID725 injectors, brought these to replace my Rc injectors, yet to find someone with experience that actually recomends the RC, everyone I've spoken too aren't too keen on their quality. These are on the other end of the quality table.

Came with injector clips and a real good quality feel to them! Alittle big for my power goals but rather bigger than smaller and these are the smallest they do lol
Hondata 4 bar map sensor, so I can turn the boost up alittle bit when I want some fun!

Cometic head gasket, did think these where quality as I've seen plenty of builds use them before. But seem they may be abit hit an miss, time will tell.

Looks decent enough.
OEM cam belt

If it's not broken don't fix it right?
Street pro bottom end gasket set, pretty cheap and likely not great but if it seals then it seals. Real-street seem to rate them enough.

Show off ;-)
It's nice to see you tackle the rebuild by simply learning the trade and getting in with it. Hope it goes smoothly! Remember take your time and keep everything CLEAN

Thanks man! Always been pretty hands on and don't like paying for other people to do things that I can do myself, I mean engine builders got two hands so have I lol
Will keep everything clean as pos! Trying to get as much info on the subject as possible really, find out who does what and which works for them, different opinions but I can then go with what I think works bests

Some quality parts there! Do it once, do it right. Good luck with the build. Id never attempt something like this but im guessing the main thing is u gotta take ur time and double chek everything and lots of research!

love this line haha. But fair point. Would love to try this kind of thing. Wouldnt know where to start though. I guess you have done and still are doing plenty research. Hope it all goes well. I will be following this build up for sure :)

awesome :D i love big shiney parcels like that!

i've gone with a mini-ram mani from go autoworks for mine, fingers crossed I have no issues lol

Yeah I'm sure you'll be fine, defo keep me posted on it though, if it cracks I want to know before I buy one lol

Could still go tits up for me if I do something wrong, but look at Whitemans high comp b18, spent more than the whole cars worth on the engine and had someone with a lot of experience and a good reputation to build it for him, still went tits up.

I'm getting close to actually starting the project now(2weeks hopefully). Thinking I might do a time lapse type video on my go pro but like all these things, getting round to it is a pain. You just want to crack on, that and it would be a very long video lol

I started one, and ive got little bits of taking car apart and building engine up, but I keep forgetting and its so time consuming setting it up when you just wanna get on lol :(

Yeah chances are mine will go the same way, start with good intentions.
I was only going to do the actual engine build process, clearance checks etc till the head was on.
