Getting ready to start assembling my block now. Was sorting out which bearings to order.

My rods are marked "3" and all my journals are marked with a "C" resulting in a bearing for oem application as a brown/green.

My question is. Three of the rods have what seems to be brown, fine. Yet number 1 going from pulley side has a black bearing in it and the crank marked with a C-4. Am I doing this right?

Crank measures in at 44.99 - 44.98

Journal markings

1 = C/4 - 3
2= C/3
3=C/2
4=C/2

Am I being stupid :p

Journal with C/4 and 3 markings.

Is there anything actually wrong with the old bearings?

Not 100% but as your using new rods will that change the clearance on the bearings if the machining isn't 100% the same as your old rods?

as said, different rods will change it. I've come out with needing pink bearings for big ends and brown for mains atm. having them double checked tomorrow, but aftermarket rods seemed to have made quite a difference

Bearings and crank are mint though need a bigger bearing tolerance as the motor is boosted. The rods state the same big end bore size as oem though could be slightly different, hence why one of the oem rods has a black bearing. The crank is actually slightly larger by a miniscule amount on that journal yet had a larger bearing lol. Getting some plasti gauge and seeing what the oem brown bearings show on all four journals and go from there
