2015 Type R Update

Im sure the gentleman's agreement has now been lifted!? I mean the gtr for example?
I've always wondered imagine if their was no agreement in the first place back in the 90's!

I honestly don't know, was just a though. The 90s would have been slightly different is that wasn't there!!

i'm excited for this. I dont think Honda will ever be as bay racer and asbo as the vxr/focus rs etc
surely blue isnt the only colour it'll come in either. they always look more toned down when we get the real thing released
Should see some of the bangers up here that run about in ek's and ep's smashing the limiter everywhere they go, i think honda are just as bad for boy racers as the rest

Haha I just meant that perhaps I am one of the trusty smash the limiter gang.
a limiter bash now and then is fine, but you know the crowd i am on about 50k miles off the limiter not one service etc kinda hard to bash the limiter when the cars no been driven in 2 years as you said :(

Bear in mind guys, this is still a concept. **** knows how many more concepts Honda are going to keep showing us.

Complete crap.

Colour sucks and it has five doors, what the **** is that? Turbo is also gash, four exhausts SMH.

"This will also be the first Type R in history to feature a ‘+R' button" - what a load of pish, why is this not engaged at all times?

Its less cool than an MB6. At least that didnt have drive-by-wire.

689 never holds back with his opinion

5 doors? Meh.

An "R" button on the steering wheel? GTFO.

I don't see myself selling my EK9 for this anytime soon. It has never been about absolute power or outright pace for me, it's whatever puts a smile on my face, and I can't see this upcoming turbo Civic-R making me grin ear-to-ear more than my current EK9.

It'll be faster yes, more fun though? I'm not so sure.

agree totally with b16mini. wheels are ****, that particular colour scheme is horrendous.

Those rear doors, FFS why! Even new "performance" VAGS such as leon cupra R are 3Dr.

You should take a ride in an ek9 with the same hp as the new civic "R"

I know what you mean though. When I had the turbo kit fitted but not mapped in I had to stay below 4.5k rpm with light loads on the engine. Still had a massive smile on my face driving it round twisty corners not even using any power.
Charming little cars the ek9!

There was never actually a 'gentleman's agreement' limiting the power output to 280ps (276bhp).

All the cars were built for the JTCC (Japanese Touring Car Championship), which had strict regulations on modifications and the maximum power of domestic competing cars. The idea being that if you could create a stock car that will beat the other manufacturers in the most watched Motorsports event in Japan, everyone will want to buy your car!

^ that makes more sense to me.
Although cars like the gtr clearly made more than 280 stock.
Big motorsport events like jtcc would be dyno testing their engines to check this aswell.

That's why it was banned from the sport for a few years, it dominated too easily :)

This is what im saying. It makes more than 280 so it's breaking that rule. The rule would be check by jtcc officials at every event. So it wouldn't of got through the first race....

More doors more whores I guess is Honda's outlook here.

It looks like the devil at the rear, It will be fast but I can imagine it will feel like your wrapped up in cotton wool which will dampen the experience, But we'll see! I'd very impressed with they could keep it below 1200kg but I can't see that happening.

Also, I reckon the advertising and gimmicks are directly in-line with how Honda were when advertising the EK9 & DC2's, Extra cheese.

It has a lot to live up to considering Fords RS focus.

Personally I cannot wait for it to be released. Saving has started!

280hp, 1350-1400kg, 0-60 6secs are my guesstimate figures.
Doubt I'll be far off tbh.

Glad I'm not the only one worrying about weight lol. I just hope honda keep it simple and don't let it turn into a fatty turbo sofa like all the others around these days.
