Jesse888 Forged/stroker turbo ek9

I'll be back, I want sub 8mins at the ring! The car can do it and I think I can do it with enough practice.
Watch this space for updates, hopefully stripping the engine end of the month.

I'm glad you're sticking with the B16b :) b18c4's all over the shop and keeps it original ek9 :D
Are you going with B18 crank or getting custom rods?

I'll also go with update page by page, my rubbish internet can't handle loading all the pics on the first page haha

I'll update page by page from now on, seems easier for everyone else.

I've bought ijwhitemans b18cr crank and that's going in my b16b block.
I can then get forged b18 rods and pistons, with the overbore to 81.50mm takes the capacity to around 1817cc iirc.
With the stock ek9 head ontop I should be able to rev it close to 9k still.
Will look into a 3bar map sensor and a larger turbo to intercooler pipe as mines only 2" ATM. This should see me making more power earlier in the rev range and give me more options on track in regards to gearing.

Keeping the compression relatively high around 9.8-1 should help keep the power curve progressive aswell. I'm basically looking to move my whole power graph back about 1-1.5k rpm so 280 is seen around 8800rpm and boost coming on 1.5k earlier.

I would leave your intercooler piping at 2", Larger pipes mean a bit more lag, Mind you trying to get it to boost that much earlier is near on impossible without much larger displacement etc, or smaller turbo

Murray

Yeah it felt like something was strangling the last engine, full boost was around 6k.
I'm hoping the larger displacement and less restrictive pipe work make a decent difference. Perhaps 1.5k is pushing it abit but I do believe I can pick up nearly 1k earlier.

So small updates really
Brought ijwhitemans block and crank, came with headstud kit! The block also has a 7k old water pump, oil pump and belt tensioner.
The water pump and tensioner I'm going to reuse but I've checked the condition of the oil pump and it has minor scoring on(not sure if this is normal?) will check my b16b pump once it's out.
So I've got afew things that I don't have to buy new anymore. Saves a fair bit of money that I would of spent!
Got the crankshaft out and it has afew scores on the mains so going to get that polished out aswell.
Here's the crank and Ian's engine block

Sneaky turbo in the background

B16b will be out by the end of the day!
Sold my 4.7fd s4c gearbox :( just too short for my build, gutting as the performance of the last build with it was great!
Hoping to make the order to realstreetperformance end of this month!
Engine is out!

Surprisingly clean garage!

ABS and likely PS are being removed at the same time, can't stand abs and fancy a shot at no PS.

Also got my rc440 injectors tested and ultrasonic cleaned, one of the injectors had a slight forward leak but we don't think it was the cause of the piston failure. These are now for sale, just haven't had time to advertise.

So me and my brother(soon to be an ek9 owner hopefully) stripped the engine down today.
Started like this

Got all the ancillaries off and left with this

Then we got that piston out lol

Not sure if it was lots of cracks that weakened the piston to then blow the hole or if it was just mass destruction all at once lol

Seems weird that it would go on the side instead of on top where the actual pressure is?

Only just found this thread :S I don't look in the build & project forum much lol!

Such a shame what happened to it, was all going so well! Nice driving on the ring though, watched the videos. Seems like the new build is coming along well already ;)

Yeah I'm waiting on funds now. Hoping to order my parts end of the month and get building.

I was really impressed with realstreetperformance, saved soo much money and their customer service and delivery time was great :)
that piston looks very sad lol...good to see progress :)
I'm removing my ABS too, I dont think it works haha, and I'm gunna try tuck my brake lines down a bit I think!

I hate the pedal feel with the abs pump in the system. No where near the feel of a non abs setup, I'm hoping the p/s is the same tbh.
Otherwise I'll have to put it all back in again, with another rack lol

I've been thinking about switching to electric PS - less parasitic losses and mainly I hope to make it adjustable - so you could make the steering as light or as heavy as you like!

Wahey Jesse it's looking good man. I've been in touch with realstreet too, awesome communication and genuine. Asked about popular forums over here, may ask about them contacting to become a vendor on here, we need some good supply of bit's from the states. Not meant in a bad way but look Jesse, we're at the same stage again! I'm not alone anymore :p

I'll also be ordering a piston/rod kit from Realstreet.

Please just buy a new oil pump. All this money thrown at it and you are willing to scrimp on a new oil pump. A used oil pump isn't the insurance you need really.

It's looking likely I'll do that Murray. Was hoping it would be in too condition being only 7k old but it does have the odd score on it.

Rybean, there must be atleast 5 of us building engines ATM. Hopefully they all go sweet without too many hiccups.

Some updates.
Did a @nicole_ and bagged up all my engine bolts so I don't forget which bolt goes where lol

Then I started removing the abs and pas systems from the car. Not doing this for weight reasons really, more for the extra feel I should get on track, ran non abs before and loved it so took the plunge on pas aswell.

Completely stripped the steering rack, removed all seals and parts that aren't needed now it's manual, it moves much easier now than it did when I started, can pull each trackrod and it glides smoothly. Wanted to remove as much resistance to the rack as possible to help keep the steering as light as possible.

Made all new lines for the new prop valve, also cleaned the bulk head while I was there

Found a tegiwa master cylinder stopper in the garage, so cleaned it up and made it fit half properly.

This is the kind of grime that was on the chassis legs

So cleaned that out and repainted both legs and strut towers with a rattle can, not the best job but look a lot better. Not a show car so doesn't bother me

So that leads us to today, now waiting on funds to start ordering/machining.

nooo you're overtaking me with progress now haha :'(
I've just pulled all my ABS out, what have you done with the wiring on the drivers side to the ecu?

I like the bagging of bolts, lets hope it makes putting the cars back together simpler!lol :D
wings look awesome for a rattle can jobby :nice:
