Cusco 1 way LSD - rebuild or not?

Hi guys,

I have opened my Cusco 1 way LSD, it took a while for me to figure out what it actually was because when I was buying the box it came in I was told there was a Mugen diff in it... Anyway, I opened it today to check everything before it goes back in the box along with the 4.9 fd and found 4 of the clutch discs have a tab broken off each. There are 8 discs either side, 4 with inner tabs 4 with outer tabs. All four broken are the inner tab type, two from each side. Now, curiously they were on both sides the inner most ones, with the outer two being fine on both sides. This is telling me that the inner ones are perhaps subject to greater shock / wear and so I was thinking - could I just swap them round and leave the ones with one of the 8 tabs missing on the outside? Or is that a bad idea? Ideally I'll see if I can find them discs on their own as the rest seem to be in a very good nick, I have measured them all, if they're worn then the wear is very even across all of them, but if I can't get them I don't really want to fork out over 200 quid for a rebuild kit when everything else is fine.... I have checked RHD Japan and they do have single discs for sale, but it seems to be a different type (smooth, whereas mine are grooved) and I'm not sure they'd fit. Also, apparently the discs required differ depending on when the LSD was made and I have no idea how old mine is, I suspect it is quite old as you can't change the LSD configuration like you can on the new Cusco stuff. Any insight as to where can I buy the parts, or whether it is good/bad idea just to swap it round and hope for the best are welcome!

If it's only the one tab like in the picture I'd be inclined to leave it, but if your going to rebuild it all then buy all new plates instead of just the broken ones.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking... I've put it all back together now, if it does one more year before it needs a rebuild then good! Just don't have a spare £200 to throw at it right now...

Yeah just run it as it is for now then.
