The AE86 owes much of its success to cartoons like Initial D which glamorized that model. The GTR has a similar story.
EK9's typically are not as hyped up as others. A cartoon series for the EK9 would help but bad publicity could ruin the image just as easily.
Therefore I think its impossible...
Removing baffled silencers will make a more raspy sound. Mugen b pipes are worth their money so its more economical to sell or PX for a straight pipe. Replacing the gutted cat with a straight pipe will help. If that still isnt enough sound, replace the twin loop with something more offensive...
I half agree with what your saying. However, Skunk2 did not label their intakes as OEM. Copying is not a crime, but a different company trying to decieve customers is.
When i first put a baffled decat on my EK4 with stock mani and cat back, there was almost no difference in performance or noise. Just made it smell like a petrol station all the time.
Insurance companies have covered just about every possible scenario for people trying to get insured on cars much more powerful than they can handle.
Iv tried this trick before but found all the insurance companies refused to cover under 25's to drive other cars.
As said before, be patient...
I bought it off a friend who had the manifold for about a year. By then, much of the coating had already peeled off. I then used it for less than 2 months before the 2 - 1 section completely separated. Lesson learnt...
I ran a ceramic DC last year until it snapped at the 2 - 1 section due to the rust. If you must go for DC, get the stainless.
Its a no go for EK9s though. IIRC they only do a 2.25" collector.
In the past i just fitted the replica grille seated in the groove and had no problems at all. Didnt pop out in over a year.
But as mentioned, if you really must have it secured, use what ever you can find and bodge something!
