My B20 EK9 (Now 250bhp+)

I should go to specsavers..

So whats next, just replace broken parts or upgrade some? :D

dont think anything needs upgrading mate!
Just need to regrind or buy a new b18 crank, what do they cost?

happy with 230hp tbh.

Well that's an interesting collection of parts. It was def a B20 block but that is a new one to us if it has a B18C crank.
Has it got a "girdle" hound 2, 3 n 4 main bearings? If not I have one I was going to put up for sale soon.
When your builder puts it back together be sure to use high comp head gasket eg Spoon.
So will it be back together quickly or are we talking months?
All the best Dunx

rebuilt by march.

Lee when you compare the power to Zen's build was that on the same dyno?

For the cost of upgrading your engine internals over what it currently is I doubt you'd get much more than a handful of BHP back and you'd have to spend megabucks.

Same dyno.

Don't need to upgrade anything mate, just sort the crank and new bearings

nothing wrong with regrinding a B18 crank, when i built my engine, had the mains reground 0.25 and all journals including rod journals micropolished and it's been spot on! of course depends on how good the machine shop are and how bad the crank is (couple of extremely minor scores on mine, no spun bearings)

a new B18 crank will sting you at least 800 quid, believe the work on my crank cost about 150 iirc which included having it balanced

Cool find, Honda always have amazing life stories if you do a bit digging! Good luck getting it all back together! :)

one of the scores is almost 1mm though, still doable?

Not at 1mm deep. The crank would need to be ground 2mm or .08" undersize atleast.

Regrinding it that much is madness , your oil pump and gearbox will have to be realigned.

Did they check the oil pump to crank nose clearance for you or did you do it steven ?

Hows that? If its ground undersize(not this crank obviously), then the correct size bearings installed, the crank will still be on the same centreline.
Or do you just mean this crank?

Murray

As Murray has stated, the correct size of oversize bearings were used, so there is no issue with oil pump alignment etc.

Mine was only ground 0.25mm on the mains which is the first oversize available

Yes but euro specs d,dynamics underreads and is hard to get got figs on. Mine got 229 on it
