As far as i know you have

Yokohama A048
Toyo R888

And thats it lol what other option are there?

Toyo R888's are near £100 a corner which is a piss take. I may just put a road tyre on for normal road driving and when i'm doing track get my R888's fitted prior to it. £100 a corner is expensive.

Hankook RS2 seem like a good compromise probaly not to different to the r888 but last longer and aren't so hairy in the rain lol and the cost

I can't think of any other semi slik tyres

Khumo V70A.
Dunlop Direzza.
Avon ZZR.

BCUK are now sponsored by Federal and they have something Paul Hughes seems to rate also, tested at Snetterton recently.

Got my self a set of Avon ZZR will let you guys know what they are like.
There is sliverstone RR.

Federal also do their own version now. Well priced and supposed to be pretty good! :)

TBH for the money and quality the RS2's are aweosme, i got mine for £51 each from camskill, they arnt as good as R888's but they are still VERY good, and much better in the wet :)

Also the Toyo R1R is meant to be a good track tyre! along with Yoko AD08 (again semi slicks that are alot more road friendly when it comes to rain etc!)

I honestly cant fault the RS2's ive just put on tho, they are filled with nitrogen aswell.

Seem to have nice hard sidewalls for a 50 Profile. Very responsive tyre :)

Toyo R888
Bridgestone RE55
Advan A048 and A050
Goodyear Eagle RS
Dunlop DZ03G
Dunlop D01J
Hoosier
Pirelli PZero Corsa
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup/ +N spec
BF Goodrich g-Force R1
Hankook Ventus Z214
Kumho Ecsta V700

these are Slick and Semi Slick i would look at

Hankook RS2 is not a true semi slick but a Ultra Sport tire but good for a beginner

these are the Semi Slicks ive experienced, and i have loved the ToyoR888 for Time Attacks, RE55 & DZ03G for Super Sprints as my favourites.

TOYO R888 if u want instant Grip as they heat up very quick but they do wear out quick if u dont take care of them or over use them.

Advans have a very small window of operation and the heat must be circulated properly and allowed to cool other wise they tend to over heat very quickly.

Bridgestone RE55 are a harder compound Tire and they have alot of endurance, if u plan to do alot of laps non stop these will be the tire for you, they take a few laps b4 getting maximum grip and they take a while to ware, operation window is also small and must be driven consistently to have longevity out of the tire.

Hankook Ventus Z214 this is a very soft tire and good for hill climbs and one lap dashes.

Dunlop DZ03G Just like the RE55, has a hard compound but the operation window is alot bigger and do about and extra 10 laps of thrashing b4 over heating and dropping off.

Advan A048 and A050 an all round good SS tire, moderate warm up time and good operation window.

Nice write up!!! ^^^

I have to agree about the RS2's Definately not being a "semi slick" Tyre

But for under half the price of most true semi slick tyres like R888's They are great value for money & still a very good tyre in both wet and dry :)

Never tried T1R's ...... But from what ive heard they arnt that great. I had some on my old clio ages and ages ago and cant remember them being that great, but at the time i also wasnt the best driver so was probably me as much as the tyres :)

RS2's have really impressed me though, Especially for the price

cant fault the toyo t1r's (195/50/15) on my eg civic even in the rain. very grippy, with the lsd and the tyres it very rairly wheelspins even on high rpm take off in the dry after theres some heat in them(high comp b18c-r)

Ian, you have 2 sets of wheels!!!!!

Paradas or something similar on the road wheels and R888 on the rotas, simple

R888 last a fair bit though, I drove to germany and back on a set including 26 laps, done 1 x 4 hour hour track day and 2 x 2 hour track days as well as a heap of road miles and they are JUST needing replaced now

But my car looks poo with OEM wheels on so was thinking of parking her up as a dd and just using it rarely with track wheels on full time. :p

If u dont like the look of the OEM wheels use em for track, its not like a show and shine when u get out there, its the times that count.

then u can keep ur rotas for the daily and it will looks nice and pretty. :nice::nice:

OEM wheels are a bit heavy and have a pretty weak offset for track use though!

once you get the mugen diff in Ian, the car will loose it's DD status, trust me haha
