i've got a mte at work who may be interested in one of these. you able to supply the head at all....which is the best B16b or can an B18C ( teg type r ) head go on it.

also what sort of power do you make with these once the new head is on and its all been tuned with minor mods like Induction kit, Ignition leads, Sparks and FUll exhuast.

i've heard these are good for tourqie which is something honda motors do lack.
I say that but i know an equation that is good for pissing on tourque.

Engine A has 400hp at 5500rpm and 200ft lbs at 2250rpm
Engine B has 200hp at 11000rpm and 100 ft lbs at 4500rpm

Which engine will accelerate fastest and which will have the best rolling start pull.....????????

the answer is they are both exactly the same.
as the tourque can be doubled by the rpm.
lol shuts up most muscle car owners when you actually talk science and maths know one can argue with that. FACT

if the information you're giving is true then:
Engine A has 200ft lb at 2250
Engine B has 100ft lb at 4500

then Engine A at 4500 will have 400ft lb...

Think you got the torgues and RPMs wrong in that one!

Incorrect ^

Thats not how it works

The figues quoted would be Peak powerzzzz...So the Torque would start dropping off

no i meant that if torque doubles when rpm doubles (which is what he said) then the numbers aren't right and it should be the other way round.

Ahhh yeah i see sorry man

no worries but I still dont like you for selling the spoon lip!:))

p.s sorry for hijacking the thread!
been in a B20 ej9 before and it was a beast is all I can say.... Im planning on doing a conversion too but not anytime soon!

I Know sorry man :(

There is a Boy from Glasgow who has a B20 EJ9
Im sure he is on here actually...Hotsuma

205bhp...Oft

No DUNSY was right.
the tourque does not double it drops off.
I did not say that tourque is doubled by rpm.
i ment that an engine with half the tourque spinning at double the rpm is the same power output.
as tourque is the rotating force remember.
the figures i gave are peak.
basically if an engine has 100ft lbs at 2000rpm
if another has 50ft but it is delivered at twice the rpm it is affectively the same.

Just a quick note that may help.

I have a B20B conversion in my 87 Civic GT.

It consists of: B16 head, stock cams etc, prelude injectors, mild skim, b20b bottom end, supersprint manifold with 2.25" collector, 2.5" exhaust and a basic tune.

That little lot made 188bhp and 152lbs/ft

So with a decent head and cams and a map 200bhp should be fairly easy to reach ie a B20B with a B16B head :nice:

I will be doing this conversion to my EK9 :D

sounds goo dmate my mate is hoping for over 190 hp so what you say is very helpfull thanks.
when you say b16 head is it best to go for the b16b as apposed to the b16a2 head from an ek4

b20z1 has higher compression, but if your gonna change the pistons it doesnt matter, and the millage is in km's cheers guys.

Except that it's wrong. :p

For reference, (think someone else mentioned it) it doesn't matter which block you go for, if you put new pistons in (and you really should) then the compression is irrelevant.

2009 dated so i doubt it mate

Haha, hadn't noticed that...
