Re: which tires

How do you want this tire to perform? What size wheels do you have? Are you doing any racing of any sort? Do you prioritize any of these things-
dry grip
wet grip
hydroplane resistance
sidewall stiffness and response
longevity
price

Re: which tires

Good for all seasons and a good price...

I'll go with Kumho ecsta MX.

Re: which tires

You get what you pay for to be honest. Don't expect the best with budget tyres such as Kumho and the like. Toyo R1R is good for the first 30% of tread, then it begins to deteriorate because the compound hardens and takes longer to reach working temperature. For motorways R1R's are not too good because it won't last due to it's softer compound.

A good budget tyre is the Dunlop Z1 Star spec, heats up quickly and lasts a reasonable amount of time ~ 15000km depending on your driving style, it is also great for track due to it's stiff tyre walls. On the wet, well, do you really drive fast in the wet?

Dunlop AD08 and RE11 are king of tyres at the moment but cost a fortune, Z1's will be enough for most conditions.

I am using Goodyear RS sports, I rate them to be comparable to the Z1's but the tyre wall is softer and more comfortable for daily driving (family as well). Therefore steering response is slower than Z1's or RE01R (never used RE11's).

I would rather pay the extra 10% and have a tyre which lasts all it's tread with performance than buy cheaper and have a tyre which performs good for the first 30% and shite for the remainder. Hankook RS2's are really shite in the wet - i mean really slippery and the dry performance is only mediocre though cheap for semi race tyres.

If you are thinking of even cheaper street tyres like DZ101's then you should not drive fast, they do not offer near 80% of the grip of the above mentioned tyres.
