Exclamation rear wheel bearing

over the last week or more my rear drivers side has started to HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

so going to take the hub off sometime this week and check out the bearing

before i go at it

is it a big job

honda quoted me 235 euro plus 21% vat for a new hub as the bearing cant be bought seperately

which makes me think i wont be able to get at the bearing?

Re: rear wheel bearing

you cant really strip anything to check the bearing dude the only way to really check its the bearing is jack the car up and spin the wheel and see if you can hear the humming noise or rough noise . and check there is no play when holding the wheel .

the bearing is a complete unit . 10 minute job to change in fact remove caliper and carrier . remove dust cap and remove the big nut and slip it off . peice of cake mate .

sound like the rite price as i had to do one of mine but 21% vat ????? its only 17.5% is it not ???

Re: rear wheel bearing

Not sure if you guys are aware of this on here but if not i'll let you into a little secret.

I spend most of my time over on CRX-UK (i've got an EF8 crx and an Ek4 vti-s), and this guy has been a firm favourite for years. He's called Bernard and runs a company called Auto-dynamics (see link) in Singapore. I and many others on Crx-UK have been purchasing parts from him for years. He's completely trustworthy and i've not once read or heard any bad reports about his services.

If you can't find anything on the site you want, if you get the part no from your local Honda dealer and email it to Bernard he will come back with a price.

As an example i have ordered 2 rear hub/bearing assemblies in the last year for my Ef8 and they have cost me under £70 each delivered for genuine Honda parts! They retail at Mr H for well over £200 so i'm well pleased with that!

The order service is very professional, Bernard keeps you up to date with delivery details with a tracking no etc via email, and both times i have ordered from him the parts have turned up within three days of order. From Singapore. If you find a currency convertor on Google you cn work out a rough price, but you need to add around a third again for delivery from experience. This may change dependant on what you order.

I think i see the hub/bearing for the Ek9 half way down this page;

Ta daaa!! Hope this helps guys, hate to see people wasting money when they don't have to.
