just a wee post here regarding the skunk2 balljoints on the front camber
kits.
had the kit on my ek4 for approx 2.5 years, started to get a "sqeeking" noise
when taking off at lights and when you turned steering wheel very slowly (
took me ages to find the cause but in the end i found it to be the balljoints
in the camber kit,skunk2 make replacements for the kit so ordered two new
joints.
fitted them and after a year the dreaded sqeek came back! now i wasnt gonna fork out for new ones so stripped the rubber boot back on the joint
and packed it out with grease to stop the noise.
this worked for a short time but because the grease cant be applied to the
top area of the "ball" its just a matter of time before noise starts.
after thinking how i could get grease around top area i came up with this...
i just drilled a hole in the top of balljoint, tapped hole for thread and added
a "grease nipple" .
now i can pump grease into top of balljoint with a grease gun, then when the grease drys out just jack up car and pump some new grease in
just thought i would share the info as its quite annoying to find the noise when the balljoints on this kit dry up
kits.
