Hi guys, i bought this car back in 2011. it's a 2000 Civic EK4 Sir II that came with JDM b16a5 engine. it's a pretty rare motor and comes with auto box only.
car was a Singapore import, bought it of a friend who only used it on Sundays.
It had only 37k km on the clock from new. well looked after, it came equiped with full leather pilot seats, front ones are electr. adj., el. sunroof, 17in wheels, back box exhaust, afr and oil pressure guage, eibah lower springs, nice stereo with 12 speakers, alarm with boot open and few extra bits.

From what i found online, this motor produces 173BHP. It deff diddnt feel like 173BHP due to the crappy auto box. I drove it automatic for 3 years, it's fine for crusing but when u need power to i.e. take over a car on the highway, the power wasnt just there. Really annoying also, i wasnt able to keep it on high revs as it would just switch the gear up.

The eibah lower springs became quite unbearable and kept meesing up my camber. I upgrated the suspension to K-Sport full coilovers

After almost a year of research I decided to sawp the gearbox from auto to manual. Spent loads of time doing a search for all the parts that are needed for full swap. I'm not based in the UK and therefore have very limited access to the spare parts, everything have to be shipped here and consequently shipping/customs fee apply. I wasnt going to do the swap myself due to the lack of resources. I've got a friend who has a garage here, specialising in building racing and drift cars.
Car ready to go to the garage:

Box is finnaly in! There were couple of parts that i was missing and didnt get as, after reading tons of post on auto-manual swap in civic, Ithought they were no needed for the swap. so for those who are doing or will be doing tranny swap in Ek4, dont forget to get middle shaft and accelerator linkage as these are different

Nice steps and mods so far. Not overly keen on the red and unsure how it will look from the top at a diff angle, nice finish though but would of recommended an nice silver. Keep it up!

I also had to change the ECU as the car wouldnt drive 100% on auto ECU. I couldnt get manual ECU that would be 100% suitable with my engine so i decided to go with afermarket ECU. Bought a used APEXI Power FC from my tuner and had it maped on dyno

i also had it dyno'd before all the work was doen and it pushed 130hP on the wheels. i was quie dissapointed tbh.. After maping the result is 139hp on the wheels. this is very very honest dyno tho! i've been driving it now for 3 weeks, it deff doesnt feel like 139hp. it easly keeps up with mates BMW 325 and a3 1.8T. The box feels really nice, gears are very short. Exedy stage 1 clutch is a bit harsh in the traffic and takes time to get used to. i initially wanted to fit OEM clutch kit but there was no other clutch kit on the island at the time i was doing the swap to fit my ITR flywheel. I'm still not sure abouth the 4.7 final drive - i do most of my driving on the motorway and it's now 4.300 rpm at 120km/h. Quite loud and not very economic. However, put the foot down even on the 5th and car just pulls!!
tranny swap was the best mod i've ever done. the power is now available when i want it and need it. It totaly changed the car - i love it. As i said, it feels way more than just 139hP.

I'm geting now ready for the next mod. i'm going boost. Been doing the re-search for last two months and still sourcing the parts. I'll update my build thred in due course.

Dont forgetthe BHP quoted online will be at the Flywheel and not the wheels, in sure someone with more knowledge will be able to give you a rough idea of what the Flywheel BHP will be around with a Wheel BHP of 139.

Hey yeah I understand there is a difference. My tuner said engine is pushing 139hp plus around 20% that is lost on the drive. So it works out around 176 bhp. Not bad for 1.6 engine..

a wee update: not really a a mod but something i wanted to do for a long time = folding key fob with integrated alarm remote. i've looked thru various forums and websites searching for the way of converting the existing key and alarm remote into a one folding key fob for honda and all i found was that it is not possible to do for various reasons: i.e. you cant program your alarm remote with the honda key fob you buy. so i looked at it from different perspective: why not modify your alarm remote to fit into blank key fob of ebay? after many hours of patient modifications i managed to integrate my alarm remote into the key fob:
$IMG-20140801-00754.jpg
$IMG-20140801-00758.jpg

as you can see my alarm remote has a very specific shape and buttons layout. i had to modify the main board of the alarm remote and file/cut some inner parts of the blank fob. i drilled 4 holes to match the buttons layout and changed the AAA battery into smaller one so it all fits in. a bit of soldering involved too.

took a bit of time to have it done but overall i'm happy with the outcome.
i might post the mod in DYI section if anyone is interested

Thought i'd share a small update on my car. Just recently i finished with a turbo conversion. Since i'm running stock internals i didnt want to go too crazy. A small T4 Garrett went in with a Turbonetics external. I wanted to keep my AC so Blox cast manifold went in. All very tight under the bonet at the moment. Car is only running 0.5 bar of boost, it was mapped to be very very safe as i'm using it daily. I'm using APEXI Power FC stand-alone. It produced just under 200 HP at teh wheels, butthe sound is just incredible! Sounds like at least 500HP :) haha !! Check for yourself!
