i would like to see what setups for b16b turbo are out there and numbers would be helpful to thanks...

wat clutch kit did you use and what company do you prefer for the axles?

the brand of clutch was XTD and it was TOTAL garbage, for axles i use stock, stock is usually good up to 300whp as long as your not launching the car hard on drag slicks. i had roadrace slicks and my axles held up just fine and i was making around 300whp at 9.5psi.

for clutches just stay away from any of the cheap ebay stuff and stay away from ACT, i prefer clutchmasters or exedy.

if you can afford it try and get some forged pistons cause i melted a piston in the end :(

but can i run the stock pistons for now...because in your other forum didn't you rev your car to 16000rpms and that's why your piston melted with the turbo?

maybe it was the over rev maye it was a bad tune, the problem is you never know, there are plenty of peple with stock piston turbo hondas that last a long time, but there compression is much lower like 9.8-10:1, you can certainly keep your stock pistons for now, i just hope you have access to high octane gasoline and a good tuner who has done it before.

and yeah i used b16a arp headstuds.

you got any good places/sites to get forged pistons?or do you know which pistons are best for boosting the ctr?

ROSS, wesico, probe, JE, SRP, and CP all are good pistons. as far as websites, i know you can get probe pistons from racespeicialists.com for the others im not sure, im currently looking for a new set of pistons my self.

so with forged pistons and rods; and a thick head gasket it would be more safer and reliable to boost it at like 10lbs...and still keep the best parts of what makes the b16b a great motor?any other suggestions on what i should replace on the block but at the same time keeping the excellent head and rs ratio???

What I hear from lot of mechanics is that, the last thing you should change on an EK9 for better performance is the pistons because they are high compression pistons (in contrast to EK4) and the gains will be negligible unless you stroke it. So I'm cautious about changing them as a 1.6 L. What do you think about that?? Is that true?? Nobody really wants to throw away $1000!!

manos when turbocharging a car lower compression is friendly and has the potential to last longer. also froged pistons are much stronger than stock cast pistons, that is why for a turbocharged honda forged pistons are a great investment, you can lower the compression a little and have a piston that is 10 times stronger. if your staying all motor the stock pistons are fine though.

manos dont forget i melted one of those stock pistons, thats why i recomend the forged ones :nice:

Oh, I'm only interested staying N/A so what I say is for N/A. So blinx, you say, there is no reason to replace the stock B16B pistons with CP, Wiseco, JE etc....as 1.6 L?? Is that true what they say about insignificant gains??

depends on how built your motor is, bigger cams will certainly show gains from higher compression, stock is 10.8, you can bump it up to 11.5-12.5:1 depending on what grade fuel you have access to. higher compression = more power :nice: if you just raise compression on a stock engine then yes minimal gains, but on a built motor, you will see positive results, raising compression is just another link in the chain of building a strong na motor.

Since I have already done port/polish, changed cams, cam gears, gasket, valvesprings/retainers, throttle body, exhaust , header and hopefuly a Power FC this month, do you think that replacing the stock pistons which are in very good shape will be a wise move or its better to wait a bit to wear out? :)

if you plan on stroking the motor, then i would wait until that time, then use higher compression pistons. but just swapping out pistons ends up costing around $1,000 thats why i say you might as well stroke it while the motor is apart :nice: use a itr/gsr crank and some itr rods+itr pistons or aftermarket higher compression ones and youll have a high compression 1.8 :nice:

What's wrong with ACT?

What's wrong with ACT?

Well, 5 years ago when i wrote that a handful of my friends were toasting ACT clutches left and right, they would slip and couldn't hold power. But that was 5 years ago, maybe things have changed.
