The ecu we're installing is a OBD2A N1 EK9 Civic Type R ECU. The 1999 - 2000 EK9 Honda Civic Type R has a OBD2B ecu.
So for this installation we will need a OBD2B to OBD2A conversion harness. This how to also applies to apexi power fc since all of them are OBD2A. Make sure your battery is not connected just in case! ![]() Photo of the OBD2A ECU ![]() Ok, now lets plug the OBD2B to OBD2A conversion harness ![]() ![]() open obd2a ecu![]() Ok, lets remove the screws on the plastics on the passenger side, and we will see the OBD2B ecu! ![]() Unplug all the cables ![]() ![]() Now lets install the ecu, you can use some tape to hold well the OBD2A conversion harness, so you can fit the plastic cover! ![]() You're done! ![]() I also recommend you to read this thread to learn the honda ecu harness differences: Honda OBD0 - OBD1 - OBD2A - OBD2B ecu differences.
