Fuel warming

I have installed after market fuel cell 1 gall made by Donny, and cooler for fuel made for Audi Diesel engines, also Walbro 255l fuel pump. Cooler is on the return pipe under the car.

When I was driving the other day I noticed that my fuel cell is very warm, and fuel is becoming warmer. Fuel pipes are bigger than OEM, and I wonder why this happens?

My injector sand FPU are OEM also.

higher than standard fuel pressure will heat your fuel by your pump, running more fuel pressure than your injectors are designed for will make them work harder and create a LOT of heat, submersed pumps always run cooler than external inline pumps. Thats why alot of external pumps also have big heatsinks

what engine do you have?

What fuel pressure are you seeing?

30-37psi on b16a &
38-46psi (approx) is normal on the B18c when idling.

Going over these pressures will see alot of heat. also Have you got a good fuel strainer in that cell?

I have B16B engine, with stock FPU. I did not measure pressure with this new pump but i ordered walbro 255l for Civic type R.
As I understood FPU will detect more than 3 bar and open valve to keep it on 3 bar?

FPR regulates on vacuum. the more vacuum, then the more fuel returned to tank. i.e. light throttle or lift-of decelleration.

full throttle or almost full-thorttle and theres no vacuum so lots of fuel will go through.

Remember the walbro pump will make more pressure than standard pump anyway.

you should buy an adjustable fuel pressure regulator with built on gauge so you can lower the running fuel pressure.

what injectors? i think it would be natural that with a smaller tank the fuel heats up faster as fuel pumps are cooled down by the fuel that flows through them, you know have less fuel to cool your pump, basically your fuel was always being heated, its just that you have less now so its going to heat faster. like a small heater in a large room does nothing, but a small heater in a small room will heat up the room.

why did you get such a small fuel cell anyway?

I wanted to make my car as light as possible, and to mixture the fuel with toulen, so I could be more precise. So I have removed original fuel tank and took the cell. I will now make big light aluminum plate under the car, to reduce air drag. I am interested what time i could make with this.

AS for fuel, you are probably right about small amount of fuel and five (INJECTOR + Fuel pump) heaters + more pressure!

Last year on Avon ZZr and 205 15/R I made 14.5 sec. There was no modification.

This year:
1. new intake + air filter
2. new tires + 14R rims
3. Fuel pump and cell
4. flatten bottom

and than, if MFactory replay me:

5. 3rd and 4th gear (I don't know if they can go on stock 4.4 final drive?)
6. Fidanza flyweel
7. RC 550 injectors
8. P28 + mapping

that is what I can try to do this year.

I have dry shot NOS, and turbo is still a dream for me. Let's stay N/A for a while!
