EK9 Re-build - 14/10/12

Sold my ej9 project few weeks back to fund the ek9 project

Bought the ek9 start of this year original plan was to break it as it got a tip at some stage but it would be a shame to so said i'd re-shell it. Have loads of pics of the swap but can only upload 30!

Have a good few plans for it and going to replace a few bits to freshen it up so will keep ye update.

Picked up a bare shell off Vtec Performance, very sound lads to deal with, and started on it while the weather was good! need to get a new bumper & lip as the one on it now is a cheap one that won't fit(not sure the proper name for them)

Waiting on a rad to be delivered to get it started hopefully have it running by next Wednesday. Have ignition light and anything that can be checked is working grand so happy with that.

Started to strip it down and swap the engine, subframe & hubs over.

This pin was a bastard to get out!!!

Onto electrics!!

Putting them into the new shell

Then onto the doors & boot

Finished it up today, delighted how it went and so far so good. VERY time consuming though!! New bumper and lip is next on the list after i get it running. Hopefully have it b18'd by the end of the summer then freshen up the inside.

so far about 60hours work gone into it been at it a fair bit the last two weeks while the whether was good. Front bumper & standard lip then bonnet will finish the front off.

Car got a knock at the rear and front but one the main reasons is this below.

Haven't updated in a while so said I'd let ye know how i'm getting one! Got a new job so will be getting a good bit done in the next few months.

Got all the bits i needed to fire her up after the re-shell and very happy that it started up no problem first turn of the key

Because of the crash damage the old shell wasn't fit for much so had to be scrapped which was a serious shame!!

New Half size aluminium radiator!

I had a major power steering issue few weeks back. Spent €200+ replacing Pumps and steering rack and it turned out that the bottle was all blocked up and needed to be cleaned :wallbash) Finally got around to cleaning the other half of the bonnet too!

Went through 3 Pumps and a rack!! But everything back to normal now new seal aswell

Sprayed the wheels black, need to be redone as it was a rush job but not the worst. tyre shine and they'll look well. something about black wheels on white cars i love!!

Swapped the JDM 50/50's for a set of facelift lights, and my god do i love them!!!

Cleaning the inside of the wheels this week. polish up and they'll be grand!

Finally got around to getting a recess!!

Pic i took the other day! Clean straight and rust free shell makes me delighted i decided to re-shelled! then the day after this picture was taking someone in work decided to slam a door into the quater!!!!!!

Finally got a bumper sorted it not off an ek9 but really like the lip!! needs a touch up but not bothered that much as it won't be on for long.

Brought it out to an Industrial estate. Pictures came out better then i thaught and nothing can wipe the smile off my face to see how far its gone! Not a minter just yet but its just the fact LOADS of work went into this in the last few months its just a good feeling when you see it work out. The door is a different shade of c/w but will be fixed soon enough

Lip won't be to everyones liking but it's something different

Jap Plates are on the way and a rear bumper when ever one comes up for sale.

Great work lad, some serious hours put into her.
I remember seeing it in blessington. I think the front passenger side
and rear driver's side were in bad shape. On the plus side,
the engine was ment to be very healthy.
Looks a whole lot better in it's new shell.
Keep up the good work.
