02-01-11 I have some photo hosting issues and lots of the pics have disappeared. I will get them back up when I can.

05-02-11 I've reuploaded all the photo's I can find there are some still missing and I will make edits to the posts with missing photo's

Okay.
I bought a Civic VTI a few weeks ago, I was looking for a ITR but the decent ones were too much money for a track car that could get written off.
The car only has 61K and I am getting it ready for my 5th Nurburgring trip at the end of next month. The GP track will be open while I'm there so I want to have a go at that too.

I Know one end of a Tig welder from the another and have already made a few bits which you can see below.
I'm an inlet and exhaust manifold design anorak and over the winter I will be cutting open and porting the inlet manifold and doing a dyno test.
The previous owner kindly left a Mugen twin loop back box on the car which will pay for all the bits to make my own manifold and exhaust.

I've done some other bits which don't warrant sexy photo's.
new rear caliper, rear discs and pads.
Goodridge braided brake lines.
hight temp brake fluid.
Before I go to the ring I will fit some hawk HP+ front pads and add some ducts for the front brakes.
More to follow

i like, tell more regards your portfolio on manifold designing

Thanks, I've never done any honda stuff but I'll be doing my own over the winter, Done a couple of kit car manifolds including a turbo Blackbird engine. I was into Vw's for a long time and have done some 16v and 20v turbo manifolds and some vw inlet manifolds as well.

hey loving the ek4 scene keep us posted, just one question how is your catch tank going to work as mine is conected from the end and the other end is connected to the intake piping ??

The hose from the rocker cover into the air intake goes to the catch tank instead. The holes in the top vent the tank.

I filled the mounts with a marine sealant called marineflex. I used it beacause it was one of the few that states the shore hardness, 45A.

when i checked my head i could only find one slot to put the hose in which is for the intake pipe the other i could not find is this custom made ?

Thanks

Lots of bits done today.

new rear caliper, discs and pads.

Changed the front pads to some Hawk HP+. Previous owner had fitted Ferodo DS2500. the Hawk are way better. Before fitting gave the disc a clean up with a palm sander and 120

All set for the Nurburgring on the 29th.

good project bud, good to see someone with the "hands" to make up own
parts :))

as regards that catch can,id say its prob a waste where is plugged into.

just give us feedback after a while to see if there is much oil in the can to
says its worth having.

anyway goodluck at the ring :win:

If it's a track only car then believe me that HP+ won't be up to the job if you like to brake hard and late..........

DS3000 or carbotech xp8 / xp10 or something similar would have been a better choice

I've got HP+ in at the moment and they are nowhere near as good as XP8 on track or the endless CCX i originally ran

Oh and thats with spoon calipers/braided lines/RBF600 fluid so it's not due to the rest of my setup........

Good luck with the build though

I'll keep your suggerstions for pads in Mind. The Hawk are a lot cheaper than the other pads you have listed. I much prefer the Hawk to the Ferodo DS2500 that were on the car.
With regard to the catch tank, The engine was using a bit of oil before, Since I added vented the cover and added the tank it's not used any. I will be venting the block into a seperate tank over the winter.

Ok. This is the start of my winter doozering.

This is the new backbox for the civ. it's aluminium and uses sound reflection thingamajiggery rather than packing.
Whats inside is none of your business :secret:

The outlet is an expanded piece of 3 inch tube so that I can slip fit the downturned tailpipe I'm going to make tommorow. If it's too noisy I can remove the tailpipe and add an insert.

It only weighs 4.2 pounds. I have a Mugen Twinloop on the car atm, I read on here the twinloop weighs 15 ish pounds.

The car took the Nurburgring trip in it's stride without a single issue.

Last weekend it passed the MOT no probs not even an advisory.

This weekend I fitted the aluminium silencer and it is a complete winner.
5KG lighter.
A bit more low key that the twinloop.
No noisier at idle or low speed than the twinloop.
The car pulls harder all through the revs but mostly at low rpm before the Vtec crossover.

Only downside is the droning at motorway cruising speeds.

try and get it db tested before goin to track, seem to gettin stricter nowadays regards db levels

Thankyou darlings. I'm gonna redo the downturned tailpipe it looks like a cock!

Looks nice :) Why not fabricate your own 3point strutbar on front? And the CAI piping seems kinda thin.
