►New Phillips x-treme +80% bulbs review, AMAZING!!◄

the purpose of this write up is to show you the difference the new phillips x-treme +80% bulb can make on your civic. i live in usa and have struggled to find a bulb that has good output thats NOT hid, i do have hids but i took them off becuase i disagree with using hid's in a non-projector housing.

these bulbs are stock wattage so they wont burn out fast or melt your wires. yet they still manage to put out a great deal more light. they are also made of quartz glass and are NOT coated so they look stock to oncomming drivers but there is a major difference in light intensity, contrast and depth.

first this is what the bulb looks like, youll notice its a bit skinnier than a traditional h4

this is the package it comes in

the bulbs i had on my car before were mtec bulbs 2x (i have also used many others and the mtec 4x but they burned out too fast or didnt have enough contrast), my mtec's had more coverage than stock and a little birghter but lacked intensity and contrast.

now for the install pictures:

first mtec LOW BEAM

now phillips x-treme LOW BEAM

WOW! major difference huh? notice how the mtecs look washed out, look at how much more contrast the phillips have, it really helps to see every detail in the road.

more pics:

mtec HIGH BEAM

phillips x-treme HIGH BEAM

keep in mind these pics were taken with my crappy cell phone 1.3 mexapixel camera. i went and drove in a moutain road after the install, i could not believe the difference, i have used many different types of bulbs and these are without a doubt the BEST halogen bulb i have ever used.

i ordered mine from www.autolamps-online.com they are the "H4 X-treme 12 volt 60/55 watt" price is about $45.00 US. shipping took about 7 business days (very fast imo), i live in usa bulbs came from england. these are the only place i know you can get them since they are NOT sold in the usa

hope you guys found this helpfull, feel free to ask any questions. (first two photos courtesy of "eran")

Re: new phillips x-treme +80% bulbs review, AMAZING!!

awesome. strage cause i was just about to make a post about HID's

ill ask a quick ? in here.
i was looking to run HIDs in my car in 07 to try them. i got the CTR lamps and they do not have the bulb shield. i was told that with HID's not having the bulb shild with scatter the beam a good bit?

anyone ever run HIDs in there CTR lamps and like them? then again if these bulbs got that great of a review i could save a few hundred dollars.

blinx.. you ran HIDs in your car and u have these new bulbs, how would you compare?

well hid's are going to be A LOT brighter, however: even with my lights pointed downwards and my car lowered i was still blinding people, i was even blinding 18 wheelers!! the lack of a projector in the 99-00 civic (ek9,ek4,em1) headlight makes the light flood out, its very hard to control where the light goes. i was able to light up a quarter mile!!! im not saying its impossible to make them aim properly just that i was not able to do it nor did i have time to play with them. these new phillips x-tremes are excellent for a non-hid bulb, i do a lot of canyon driving at night and these bulbs really show me every detail in the road and go really far. if you have the time and money to get hid's and make the aim properly then do it, if not, these bulbs are an excellent alternative.

another complaint i had about the hid's is that i lost my high beam. i only had 1 beam and it was all over the place.

that makes you an asshole, your making the road unsafe for other drivers, did you ever stop to think how that is affecting people? would you like it if your mother got into an accident becuase she was blinded by some kid in a honda with hid's? i hope your proud of yourself.
