Your dynograph is a dynodynamics in shootout mode, thats flywheel hp, you can't compare that to a dynojet that reads whp, that 190hp of yours would be about 165-170 on a dynojet...

thanks blinx9900. i am going a different route on the header, going with hytech, best gains. PnP head and intake mani...a complete head job.

Do you think that the 3 or 5 angle valve job provides and positives on a NA motor? Or is this just a waste of time?

In actuality, the valvejob is often considered the most important aspect of improving the overall flow of the head.

Who is going to be doing the work for you? A "name brand" like portflow or some local shop you trust?

For the amount of money you will be putting in, it's hard for me to hold back and not state the obvious: You're better off installing a 4.785 or 4.9 final drive with a lightweight flywheel, if you really want gains you can feel right away.

If I am going to do it, which I just might, it will be done at a shop I have used for years, they race Honda's both drag and road race.

I already have a 4.785 final drive, thinking about doing a lightweight flywheel but very happy with the OEM for now. Besides, a lightweight flywheel does not affect power and torque, positive or negative, it only allows the power to be realized sooner. Been there already.

Re: Why didnt honda make what I have created...

is your transmission from a 98spec?

Good that you've gone that route already. For sure get the lighter flywheel!

99 spec-r jdm
i may when the clutch needs replacing.
right now I am going to focus on the head work and header. hytech for sure.
That would conclude the engine work for me, hoping to get to 190-200whp.
cams, springs, retainers, PnP, valve job, head gasket, hondata intake gasket, all done at once. done and done. if I dont get my 200whp, im going to a k swap for sure. i need my power!

Re: Why didnt honda make what I have created...

200whp is easy with all that you're considering.

When you replace the clutch and if you're looking for a more manic motor all around... replace the taller 4-5 from the 98spec and put 16A or USDM ITR back in.

Re: Why didnt honda make what I have created...

I would also recommend to swap out the 4th gear but leave the 5th if it's your daily drive. The high revving on motorway is annoying and obviously your fuel economy is suffering. I swapped the 4+5 in my 98spec ITR box and plan to change the 5th back due to the above.

Re: Why didnt honda make what I have created...

Thanks Vtec6000 and RagingAngel for the gear advice.
4th is a bit tall so that may get changed but 5 I think will remain as I think its already reving the engine too much for a daily driver. Im on freeways/highways 80% of the time.
