Drove my mates DC5 yesterday

and I dunno man it just seems to refined and can feel the VTEC kick. It's nice and comfortable and modern, more torquey and the LSD was very involving but it just doesn't have that rawness of the b series engine. Think I'm just gonna have to keep my EK and dunk a b18c into it.

Re: Drove my mates DC5 yesterday

LOL Brilliant first reply.

I owned both at the same time..

Got rid of the DC5 after about 3 months as A)It had a few problems and B) It bored the **** out of me. Don't care how rare it is, for the money you'd be better off getting an EP3 and playing with it.

Re: Drove my mates DC5 yesterday

nah allow ep3 they're much shitter that dc5. DC5 is pretty decent but I think you need to do a but to it just to make it aggressive and raw if that is even possible. Is the S2000 AP1 and AP2 really refined too or is it raw like the b engines?

Re: Drove my mates DC5 yesterday

The dc5 is better than the ep3 and fd2r.

Modern type rs have become like this. But I dont have a problem with mine as my wife drives it with a 270bhp K24 monster in it. Its good to interchange from the ek9 everynow and then.

Dropping a k20 into ek is very very raw!

Out of the 3 cars that I've owned all at once, the DC2R was the most balanced in terms of power and handling. Handling goes to EK9, Power goes to DC5R.

EK9 + B18 or K20 Pwns all!

You say "Modern type Rs have become like this"

You do realise the EP3 and DC5 were released at the same time?

Yes, Modern type Rs have become less raw.

I meant to say out of the modern type Rs, the DC5 Platform is better than the EP3 and FD2R. DC5R is more potent than the FD2R. Its just that Best Motoring Int portraits the FD2R to be more supreme for sales purposes, when it really isnt better than the DC5.

Re: Drove my mates DC5 yesterday

No type r is shit. Any single one of them can be made to be fantastic. Depends on your budget completely. I agree they each have pros and cons but to say one is shit compared to another is just plain silly!

My bad, Type Rs is good! So good that I've had 3 at the same time at 1 point.

I should rephrase that, out of the Modern type R platforms, the DC5R is the slightly better choice.

Happy now?

Re: Drove my mates DC5 yesterday

I'm talking about shit as from my personal point of view. When you drive a b series and then go on to drive an ep3 you'll know what I mean. It's just the whole feel, aggressiveness and racing feel is not there on the ep3

I know what you mean, but if you drive any old bomb 1970s-80s car to 80kmph it would feel like your doing 160kmph. Do 160kmph in a bmw and it will feel like 100kmph in a type R.

Newer cars are getting heavy for safety reasons. As standards go up, cars become more diluted.

Its not the engine thats not as racy, its the chassis.

My EK9 B16B is far less powerful than my DC5R K24, but its much more go-kart like, which is the rawness your feeling. And 9400rpm makes it even tastier!

The K-series doesnt have that distinct Vtec kick in due to VTC(variable cam timing), in return it gives you punchy low/mid end that a B-series can only dream of.

Apologies my comment was directed more at the op for his comment on the ep3 being 'shitter' than a dc5.

As someone who has owned nearly every vaiant of type r it grates on me when someone says a car is shit when they have driven it once. No doubt the op will come on and state he owned an ep3 for 10 years, in which case my bad but imo the ep3, a car you can get for well under 3k is a bargain and a fantastic used buy.

well said stick a frsu on an ep3 and it transforms the car feels totally different granted they will never have the feel of a dc5 without an lsd but i certainly wouldnt call them shit

Re: Drove my mates DC5 yesterday

After driving my mates DC5 I know I'd probably have one... When I'm old.
