Thanks

Re: EJ6 to EK9 Conversion Guide / Thread

Suspension:

-5 lug conversion with ek9 brakes
-26mm front sway bar, to use this you also need the lower control arms and shock forks, the us spec em1 uses the exact same parts so it can be sourced from there.
-22mm rear ek9 sway bar, to use this you need ek9 rear lower control arms or any aftermarket units with holes for the endlinks, also keep in mind when using such a large diameter bar on a NON-type R you MUST use a sub frame reinforcement brace such as the COMPTECH, ASR, or BEAKS kit. without this kit the bar will tear out of the subframe as teh factory ek9 has a reinforced subframe the factory ej6/ek4 etc... does NOT.
-under subframe brace
-ek9 shocks and springs, stock ek9 spring rates are 250lbs front and rear with the rear being progressive rate.
-front strut tower bar
-EK9 front and rear bumper reinforcements, often referred to as re-bar, us spec ej6 models have a much larger one due to bumper laws, not sure about ek4.

Re: EJ6 to EK9 Conversion Guide / Thread

OTHER:

Reserved for anything else hehehe

-Gold color chromoly shift linkage (change rod). non-type R uses steel.
-Factory tinted glass
-A lot of the bolts on the ek9 have a hollow head to reduce weight, ej6 uses some of these bolts but not as much as the ek9 has.
-No wiper on the rear hatch area

final comments blinx9900: while some ek9 parts are excellent it is not necessary to use ALL of them, sometimes it just dosnt make sense financially to spend so much money on parts you may upgrade later, like shocks and springs for instance, it may be better to just buy aftermarket shocks/springs or coilovers from the begining, this is not to say the oem ek9 parts are not good, its just that some people may prefer a stiffer ride or dont want to gamble with buying used shocks. also the rear sway bar, suspension techniques makes a rear swaybar kit that is 22mm just like the ek9 and it comes with everything you need including the subframe brace. or the factory shift knob is very EXPENSIVE, skunk2 makes a replica that is weighted for smoother shits and it cost much less. keep in mind when buying a lip to purchase the lip for your body style either 96-98 or 99-00.

Re: EJ6 & EK4 to EK9 Conversion Guide / Thread

I'm fairly sure the ek9 and other ek side skirts are the same, they just have to be paint matched.
In the US you will need an ek9 dash with the large vent right on the top middle. All ek9 interior panels are black, other ek's have a dark or light grey interior panels. For a conversion you can either switch to ek9 panels, or dye yours black.
You will also need the ek9 blue colored fuse box cover, in the engine bay.
An ek9 cigarette lighter panel is also different from a US spec one.
A red stiching shift boot is also needed.
