Oil restrictor

Hi just got a 1.5mm oil restrictor for a Garrett t28 turbo its journal bearing can anyone please confirm if this is the right 1.5mm oil restrictor as it says for ball bearing?? The hole on the side off the bolt is 1.5mm and goes alot smaller on the end where oil comes out from id say slightly smaller then 1mm is this correct? or does the oil restrictor hole need to be 1.5mm all the way through?

This is the one I have got
Oil restrictor Banjo Bolt 7/16"-24 Garrret Ball Bearing Turbo GT28R GT30R GT35R | eBay

Please if someone can help asap

thanks

Re: Oil restrictor

Why are you fitting an oil restrictor? Do you have smoke from the exhaust or something?

Re: Oil restrictor

Trouble is these Honda motors make a lot of oil pressure which can be bad for turbos as it leaks past the oil seals and gets burnt off in the exhaust, sometimes the drain back to the sump can be at fault though, check there are no kinks or bends more than 45 degrees and the bore should be no less than -10 or 15mm if not using an fittings.

Re: Oil restrictor

I did run a oil restrictor, but ditched it when Turbo Technics said it was not needed on a journal bearing turbo with a 360 degree thrust bearing.
They are normally used on BB turbos

Did you ask turbo technics how they knew what oil pressure your engine was making? Most of the time a restrictor is not needed unless its a bb turbo in which case a lot of them have it built in on the chra its self.

Re: Oil restrictor

take the turbo off and problem[s] solved!

jk!

interesting read! never knew we had that much more pressure over other engines. I knew it was more, but so much to blow past a seal? crazy!

Re: Oil restrictor

If you think as a rule of thumb we should have roughly 10 psi of oil pressure per 1000rpm thats 90psi at 9000rpm, thats a shit load of pressure, remember though this can all change with diffrent weigh oils as can the flow rates

I didnt have to ask them, i told them the pressure when i emailed them a couple years back.

90psi is almost dangerous and could kill if used in an evil way.
