boost? or kswap?

i dont know what i want to do..... i have a 2000 civic hatchback with a gsr and i dont know if i want to build my botton end and sleeve it so i can turbo charge it or do a kswap... boosting my car would be keeper since i hav already build my head awhile back but i dont want to boost my car and build the bottom end and then ending up wanting to do a kswap instead.... cant make up my mind help!!!!

I'd say it all depends on what you use the car for mate. if its a daily driver defo do the K swap! If your car is just a weekend or drag/track car then go boost!

Personally I would go K swap over boost. good luck!

Re: boost? or kswap?

And if you're gonna hammer it on a track, I'd also rather go K, unless you change the internals of your engine. But that will be a very expensive thing to do

Re: boost? or kswap?

You'll get more power going turbo but to go turbo safely and reliably it will cost you more than a K swap i would say. The K swap is out the box power and torque and perfect Honda relability. The decision is yours ..

Re: boost? or kswap?

I would go k swap as I have a very high powered turbo car already. If I didn't then I don't know what I'd do. It's a tough decision. However a K20a in an EK sounds really appealing. 6 speed box too. Some good points already made by others.

Re: boost? or kswap?

I think I'm the only one in saying this: I'd go boosting instead. Alot more enjoyment for me in there. The only N/A engines that give me that hard-pinned-on-the-seats feel are American and Euro V8s so far.

Re: boost? or kswap?

I would go k swap...When that engine is put in a ek that is stripped out it will be quick enough for any of us I say

Re: boost? or kswap?

if you have money then k swap ftw !
more reliable and streetable
if you decide that look for a jdm k engine
or a franky tsx k24 with type r head with cams etc

Re: boost? or kswap?

Since the OP said GSR motor, Im going to assume he is American and so Im going to say boost, just for all the american street race videos against american muscle cars haha

Re: boost? or kswap?

lol its hard but thanxs guys i guess i will find out this coming summer!!yes i am an american and yes people down here with american muscle are big headed and they doubt my honda.. at the end when i beat them they get butt hurt and try to say they wasnt ready or im spraying or whatever. im leaning towards to the kswap thanxs to you guys lol.no front mount = i can say i still have my gsr lol. i mean my car is pretty quick its a 95 gsr motor with cams but stock bottom end. made 183 when tuned. with a stock cat and small headers =[. i thought doing kswap would cost more then going boost? for a complete clip for the k20a is about 5800, plus all the other parts you need in order to install the kswap like motor mounts and kpro etc..
