Re: LS VTEC Turbo Vs B16A2 Turbo?

I'd go B16A2 Turbo with the ITR tranny. From what I've read thats a good set up as long as its tuned properly, etc. I'm a noob at turbo'n stuff so your best to wait on the Big guns replies!

I have a b16b head on a b16a block with b18a/b pistons

Well how much power are you after? If you want like 225whp that can be achieved n/a with reasonable cost. Now if you want 250+whp you can still achieve that n/a but the cost may become a bit unreasonable and it may become more reasonable at that point to consider turbocharging which can easily give 250whp-300whp on average with very low boost.

Every car is a good candidate for turbo in my eyes honestly though the ITR would be a great candidate as long as you install a thicker head gasket and head studs. I actually feel more comfortable turbocharging a b18c than a b16b.

can i achieve 300whp on a b16a2 turbo with oem internals?

Because i'm crazy lol, j/k, honestly at the time i had no job and i had blown up my b16b engine, i had to get the car running with minimal cost but it still be somewhat reliable and fast which is normally not possible (cheap reliable and fast.). A good friend of mine gave me his blown b16a block for free, i ran the b18a/b pistons to lower the compression to what i wanted since the block needed new pistons anyway, my b16b head was still in great shape so all the parts went together and that was it

But there was a method to the madness, and i did have more technical reasons. The b16b head is better for a few reasons: The larger cams it has, the dual valve springs and minor port job. I chose the b16a block because I wanted to keep the 77.4mm stroke to keep piston side loading at high rpm to a minimum and have lower piston speeds since i was not using forged pistons and i have stock sleeves.

So yeah, it all came together for a few reasons, i had a theory, i had a budget and i was able to build what i wanted the best i could at the time.

Yes, just run a thicker headgasket to be safe and ARP head studs + good tuning and support mods.

As far as beating skylines it depends on which skyline and what mods it has, i'm sure you realize that.

Smile Re: LS VTEC Turbo Vs B16A2 Turbo?

i am not sure if it is the treadstone kit.i just saw it on ebay. i thinks its just turbonetics turbo with some generic stuff in it. LOL. under a budget here, so i am thinking of cheaping out on parts that i can get away with and just spending on parts that i cant afford to cheap out. i hope i made sense.but i know you know what i mean.

cheers!

I'm sorry man, please don't be upset when i tell you this, but that statement means you are not ready to turbocharge your car and it would be best left NA.
