dear members.

i did a swap from d15z6(ek3) to b18c.obd1
the car is much quicker, but 180hp?
does not feel like it.healthy engine burns no oil.
last week changed the sparkplugs.
and comparing them on a colour chart, looks like the engine is running on the lean side.
did read a lot on the net, some say jdm maps are a lot more agressive.
then again others say it is running lean and green?
i have changed out fpr/ ig.coil/iat/map cap rotor wires all oem parts.
leaves me with maps and cooling perhaps.
the radiator is single core with 32 mm in and outlet.
now question; could she be running a little hot.
and will the ect sensor rob it of some hp?
i measure 180ohms on warm engine(it should be between 200 and 400 ohms.
help is advised please.
on the chart my plugs look like the slightly hot ones.
oh and i do warm her up gently, but when cold she seems to have more power.

hi

yes i havent changed a thing.
all standard incl.iab intake.i like some midrange.

hi

yes i did, bridged the service plug.
and set it to 16 degrees.

Have you experienced any other B18'd EK? Remember doubling the power (in your case not even doubling, going from what 115 to 190hp? ) doesn't mean the car will be twice as fast...

hi

no i did not,but seen a lot of youtube 0 to 60's
it is not 190hp, i have 180hp the japanese b18c4.
0 to 60 is close to 9 seconds..
i see you have driven a ek3 as well,i remember the long gears on my d15.
it just feels like my motor is losing power after warming up.

Could be an issue with the dual runner flaps on the intake manifold, do they operate correctly?

Also check your valve clearances if they are to tight it will cause bad running when warmed up due to expansion

Are you sure it's an sir engine,b18c4 is out of a mb6 motor. Can't see them being the same code. Did you buy as a complete unit with ecu? What ecu is it running? Have you done a compression test?

hi

thanks for reply.
yes the secondary.s do open at 6200rpm.cleary hear hem with top of airbox of.
just for testing.
valves i have set 0,17 intake/exhaust on 0,19.
about the lean stuff, filled her up today, would you believe 33 mpg?
that is with 102 octane, and some cruisin with the misses.
anyone knows what the ect sensor does?
retard timing/less fuel?

102 octane fuel??? Seems a bit excessive for a c4. It could be running a bit rich maybe? Also, engines will perform better when it is cold, so considering it is the middle of summer....

yes i am sure it is a jdm b18c.
it came out of a japanese integra.
its 10.6 compression instead of 10.0 of a c4.and with s80 gearbox.
and small box jdm p72 ecu. no type r.
compression test i have not done.

as i said burns no oil,she runs like new.
only weak.

B18c out of an sir integra non type r i think hes talking about, its the jap equivalent to the b18c4 engine over here

running rich/lean has nothing to do with oil burning. If the car runs rich it will be down on power.

If it was me I'd do a full leak down and health test to rule it out completely. Guessing uve done full service? Checked timing?

Yeah I no what he ment just new when he said c4 I new that's uk lol hope you get her sorted

thanks for the relply's

next i am planning to do is ,get a skunk dual core rad/half size.
and change out the ect sensor.
also thinking of putting her on a dyno, but i would be surprised if she is putting out more than 140 hp.
driven a few cars over the years, started with mark 1 golf gti.quick car light to.
205 gti 1.9 again light.
family cars in between not to mention.
mr2 mark3,140 hp not to bad either.
last week Mazda 3mps,now thats one wicked car.
back to the civic hp to weight, should be not to bad.
will let you know.

Is it still on the standard exhaust mani?

The reason I ask is a friend of mine had a JDM SiR-G integra that was dyno'd at 168 on a maha dyno when it was completely standard. He got a j's racing mani, J's intake skunk2 inlet and upgraded that head with toda a cams and mapped it with an apexi neo and it was ran on the same dyno after the work at 207.

Most of the SiR-G integras I have seen only reach 160-170 when there standard.

ce.

yes i kept the Original exhaust manifold.it is a rare one.
in between the 2 and 2.5 inch on the integra's.
post a pick of it.had a hard time to get a flange to match the gasket/donut.
is a oem one 57mm inner diameter.
your friend has made good gains with his mods.
but for now a would be happy with 160hp,just doesnt feel anywhere near that.
as i said 0 to 60 measured roughly 9 seconds.
me think she should be easy in the 7 second region.
would you believe i am still on 185/60 14 tyres.
xtra torque wright?
gonna try the ect sensor first with coolant flush.
ect is reading 180 ohms on warm engine, and should be between 200 and 400 ohms.
lower reading and the sensor /ecu is leaning her out.
