Your better off getting a proper uprated valvetrain and some aftermarket cams to see some REAL gains, messing with stock parts won't really get you any significant power.

Depends on his budget after all, and what sort of end gains hes after. Aftermarket valvetrain and aftermarket cams arn't a must. Ek9 cams work just great on my build, still make great power/torque.

That wan't really his question anyway, he was simply asking whether ek9 cams work better with a b18c bottom end over b18 cams.. The only difference with the ek9 cams and b18 cams is the intake duration is slightly longer by 2 or 3mm IIRC.

This setup worked well on my mates ek9 anyway.

EK9 intake cam has 3 degree's more duration that ITR intake cam. Some 99/00 DC2's had the CTR intake cam also.

As for gains you might see 1hp more with the CTR cams

How about the ek9 head with supertech springs and retainers ek9 cams on a b18c block. Would these be better then a stock b18c setup.

Over kill for that set up. Ideal if you are going to check some cams in.

I would be looking to In to better cams but for now I just want a quick engine then I'll start upgrading things like cams ect. Ian when you got your engine built was it like new or did u have problems with using oil, smoke ect. Eventually I would like to build my engine but I've heard alot of horror stories at the same time.

Come have a chat with me in a bit and I'll tell you history of my engine and why I chose to build it.

Iv been told but havnt had a chance to find out for myself yet but the teg 99 spec rear cam has a bigger overlap which helps with scavaging, also ctr pistons have a higher comp than b18c so good for rasing compression havnt checked clearances etc tho for myself!
