Tegiwa Alloy Radiators

I have already searched with no luck

My question is: Has anyone used a Tegiwa alloy radiator on a trackday, did it improve cooling and did it remain in the same shape.

I have seen a post were someone used an ebay alloy radiator on the track and the whole radiator expanded and warped out of shape

Cheers for any help!

Are you having heating issues with your current rad?

No the car doesnt overheat but it does get up to running temp alot faster than my old dc2 which had a full length radiator.

Im prob gona do a few trackdays and just don't think that the standard half length ek9 rad will provide enough cooling. The dc2 did start to loose power towards the end of the 8-10 lap session due to heat

I know there are alot of quality alloy rads available but they are very expensive, this is why I ask are the tegiwa rads good on trackdays?

I'm in the same position even more so cause i have B18C and i track. I just went for OEM ITR rad a lot cheaper and still an upgrade. At least you can quarantee quality over the cheaper ali rads.

Re: Tegiwa Alloy Radiators

My stock EK9 rad also gets up to temp quickly, but I've only ever had the needle budge once (and that was during a extra-long spirited drive when i first bought the car! - just wacked heater on full and let off for a few minutes and I was good to go again).

Theres definatly a thread covering this, but I just can't find it!

Was pics comparing it to a Koyo rad or something similar, the japenese one was unquestionable better made, but that's not to say the tegiwa one is not good - not seen it tested on a long track session though, but I rate their products!

Is your A/C still in? If not i'ld just get a full length ITR one second hand.

Re: Tegiwa Alloy Radiators

I would just spend the money on a known brand if it was me. The last thing you want it is to leak when your racing around a track and your ECT is sky high.

i was warned when my head was built (sorry, was told 100%) that my ek4 rad was insufficient for my b16a2 so a must to get 1 as soon as funds allowed (luckliy car was mapped and had safey feature to minimise probs when silly temps reached as mate who built my car/mapped knew before hand)

now for fact and real world proof

went to the ring few months later, few laps and couldnt really feel car had backed of but mate in standard totally eg with passengers went past me like i wasnt trying (i was full out), car had basically backed of completly due to water temp (cant remember max figure that day but well over 100oC)

came home and ordered rad and overhalued entire water cooling system, not had prob since but car is borderline of being too cool now sometime but no issue for me as dont ever give iot some unless warmed up (oil and water) and in winter just block of half to 2/3 of rad

Re: Tegiwa Alloy Radiators

Just been talking to my mate, I quote "that gauge is bollocks, dont believe it, my car sits at 78 degrees (digital water temp gauge) and when my gauge was reading 103 degreess, my little needle was still on half way!"

can anyone confirm? either way, i've just had an "ebay moment" and now have a dc2 rad on way to me!

Re: Tegiwa Alloy Radiators

oem gauge isnt what you should go of, itll basically tell when something very vrey wrong (wont tell you about excessive high temp) and give very vague idea of when car warmed up (again it may get to where it normally sits but id still wait another 5 mins before giving it some as oil wont be at decent temp)

good oil and water temop gauge will open youir eyes up
