Hi.

This is my '97 EK9.

I'm currently replacing the slam panel after an accident with the trolley jack.

The crooked slam panel. Tried straightening it but decided to buy a new one.

I brought the car with a Maxim Works manifold and Tanabe Medalion Concept G exhaust, to help lower engine bay temperatures I wrapped the manifold in DEI titanium wrap.

I'll be attaching the new slam panel this weekend.

Attached the new slam panel. Looking for a race base crash bar to finish it off.

Was it hard change over ? .. Is the race base crash bar smaller ?

Not really, had to drill out a few welds then line up the new panel and test fit everything before fixing it permanently.

The race base crash bar is smaller than the standard bar.

What happened to it?

It fell off the jack while I was raising it up, broke the air conditioning radiator and bent the slam panel.

Finished painting the slam panel in the week so this morning this is what I started with.

Aligned the wings, fitted the manifold and crash bar then bled the radiator.

Need a O/S rear caliper and a front brake carrier before its ready to sit back on the ground.

While waiting for the paint to dry on the slam panel I finished undersealing the rear.

Fitted the airbox, air conditioning radiator, horn and bonnet latch today. Need to finish connecting the air conditioning then I can get it refilled.

The caliper and carrier I needed have been bought, hopefully get them fitted the weekend and the brakes bled.

It's now back on all four wheels.

I was hoping the front brake carrier would arrive this morning so I could sort the brakes and change the fluid.

It didn't show so I replaced the rear caliper that had seized and fixed a blow on one of the exhaust joints with a new gasket.

Also spent some time aligning the bonnet, lights and bumper.

nice work, love seeing an EK9 get loads of attention from the owner. keep it bud, very nice clean car :D

Thanks for the comments.

I had an email asking where I brought the slam panel from. So I thought I'd share it here.

carz2.co.uk

Looking well, I used carz2 for my front bumper and rear quarter repair panels and couldn't fault them

Gave it a clean this evening.

Having some trouble with the brakes at the moment. I've replaced the seized caliper and changed the fluid to ATE Super Blue although I now have a lot of travel in the pedal and very weak brakes when braking from high speeds.

You've heard the term 'Rain stopped play.' Well technically today it was snow.

I was going to swap out the power steering pump and re-bleed the brakes, guess it will have to wait till next weekend.

Roll on summertime..

Starting swapping the power steering pump today.

The air conditioning hadn't been refilled since changing the slam panel so I pulled it out to make getting the pump out easier.

I split the pump out of interest and noticed the middle of the pump was not fixed. Not sure if that's the problem or its supposed to be that way.

Then realised the replacement wasn't the same, I should of checked before removing the old one.
