Exclamation Spoon N1 Sicking out.

So ive been looking around the forum and I've seen that a lot of people's spoon N1 tucks up nicely under the bumper, Mine seems to stick out to far and looks kind of silly.
Please excuse the dirty back box is actually shiny
Note: it looks like this even when the car is cold so is not the system expanding.

I only have the back box for now but I will be adding a new manifold and spoon b pipe when funds allow, I don't think this is the problem but thought id let people know what else is fitted. It’s not blowing anywhere and seems to be sitting on all the hangers correctly. Can anyone think of a reason why this might be.

Re: Spoon N1 Sicking out.

Just an idea, but are the spoon n1's for a DC2 integra exactly the same as one for an EK9 but with a slightly longer tail pipe to allow for the extra length of the car? You may have one for a DC2???

That's the first thing that sprung to my mind, although I'm not sure if the hangers are identical or not...

Re: Spoon N1 Sicking out.

Hmm I thought that they would either be totally different or identical seems a lot of effort for such a small difference I shall look into it I have a mate with a dc2 who has a spoon n1 so perhaps I can compare the two.

Thanks for the replys guys if anyone knows about the difference between the two let me know

Re: Spoon N1 Sicking out.

Ah thanks for clearing that up lee.
I'm guessing (hoping) that it’s something silly and somewhere along the system its not sitting right. It didn’t seem right when I was trying to fit it in the first place as I had to remove the rear bumper to get it on.
Just wondered if anyone had a similar experience.

Also if any mods can correct my typo on the thread title it would be appreciated.

you'd better sell it to me

i think it looks badass

plus stops your bumper from going black like the N1's usually do

Re: Spoon N1 Sicking out.

Could it be one from an EK4? I have one on my Jordan and it doesnt look like that, but then the exhaust system is a different length isnt it because of the JDM and the UK market, not sure which way round, but I know they are different lengths. When I ordered mine I had to say whether I had an EK4 or EK9, just a thought. As you said it doesnt look right, and it isnt right as mine doesnt look like that, it tucks just inside the bumper.

If the jdm cat is shorter then surely my back box would be further into the bumper than it is now? Sorry confused I’m sure that the spoon back box is the same for the ek9 and ek4 will check. Thanks

Re: Spoon N1 Sicking out.

Seems EH6 EK4 and EK9 all share the same N1 back box as the code on spoon sports europe site is 18030-EG6-011 for all three.

Sorry im not trying to prove everyones answer wrong I really appreciate the help guys thank you.

If I get chance to get under the car again and have a look ill post up anythink I find wrong Might not be for a while though so thought id see what people think.

Re: Spoon N1 Sicking out.

Not the back box, do you have an adjustable decat?

Hi flow cat? There is something like 5" between uk and jdm cats so its not that!

Standard B pipe?

Standard mani?

Mine used to stick out a bit untill i reversed she into a micra!

You don't want it tucked right under though cause it creates a vacuum type and swirls black siht all over my bumper! Especially if your not running a cat.

Re: Spoon N1 Sicking out.

Is this a new exhaust or old?.. Maybe the older version had a longer tip on it?.. Does it have the spoon badge on it?? If you want to measure the tip I will measure mine and we can see.. Does it sit nicely over the exhaust??

Re: Spoon N1 Sicking out.

@ IJWhiteman: My exhaust system was standard so I still have the OEM Cat and B Pipe I will double check to make sure its not some strange length sports cat but the only things on it when it was imported were lowering springs as far as I know.

Hmm I don't fancy reversing into anything just to make it sit flush

@JDM 3383: My N1 is an older version with no plaques or markings but im still pretty sure its genuine. Ill measure the length of the tip tomorrow to see if its any different. Pretty sure i bolted it up ok. Was a pain to get on originally as I said had to take the bumper off to get enough angle to get it over the b pipe so it makes me wonder if thats in the wrong position somehow.

I dont have any gasket between the b-pipe and the back box is this correct? There is an angled mating face on the pipes so I assumed this did away with the need for one and my OEM box didn't use one either.

Thanks for suggestions guys.

Re: Spoon N1 Sicking out.

i have seen this happeing to folk with adjustable de-cats also . happend to a few mates if you dont set the de-cat to perfect length it will either stick out a little or be to far behind the bumper
