How much Heat Wrap?

Been a little gripped by the whole financial thing goin on these days, so am looking for some nice cheap mods for the EK9 for the time being and have decided a little heat wrap on my manifold would go a long way!!

But my question is, how much length and what width heat wrap would be required to cover a whole manifold? I currently run a Vibrant 4-2-1, and would like to get a little too much than too little..

Does anybody have any ideas on quantity? And good brands? Or is it all pretty much the same?

Cheers!!

Re: How much Heat Wrap?

Heres a rough idea, as all manifolds are different legths anyway...
1" x 30 metres
2" x 15 metres

Use gloves and apparently wetting the wrap and as you wrap it makes it easier.
Jubiless clips is probably the most secure way of tying it all down imo, can be had from local motor factors for about £0.50p each

Re: How much Heat Wrap?

avoid the cheap stuff, it just falls apart and rips easily, spend a bit more and do the job once,

i used stuff from rallydesign before but it was a few years ago, was good stuff

Professional Motorsport Parts, Spares & Rally Equipment from Rally Design

oh and also if you can use stainless steel locking wire to secure it, looks more profesional than big jubilee clips but you will need the right tool.

Re: How much Heat Wrap?

I would also wear a mask as there's little strands/flakes that come off the heat wrap when you stand handling it. Not something you would want to breathe.

Long sleeve shirt/trousers are a good idea too unless you feel like itching for a few days.
