Re: Is spoon ECU worth getting for EK9?
jojo I have the SPOON ecu for my 9 and DC2R.
With my 9, everything is fine except the lowered vtec transition at 5000rpm. On my car theres a massive power dip between 5000-6000rpm. Power comes piling on from 6000rpm to 9100rpm. I'm not sure why it does that but many users here are experiencing the same. I bought a $50 Buddyclub V-CON to counter the problem and set VTEC at 6000rpm. Now its running great and no more dips!!!
On my stock DC2R, I'm also experiencing the same thing except not as bad on the 1.8L compared to the 1.6L. but still theres a power dip between 5000-5800rpm. Top end really picks up and is carried out deeper above 8000rpm. normally power dies at about 8200rpm. I'm also getting idle problems as it sits at 1500rpm the whole time even when its hot.
These are just the few things you get with a generic ecu...
